Communications Specialist

Function Overview:

Whirlpool is seeking qualified candidates for a Communications Specialist opening to join the team in Fall River, MA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with Communications Manager to determine best communication messages, techniques, and channels to engage employees with the objectives, practices, and policies of the Whirlpool Fall River Operations business

  • With direction/input from the manager, create compelling content that engages Whirlpool Fall River Operations employees with the Whirlpool Corporation story, and encourages them to be advocates of our company, brands, and products

  • Support major change initiatives at the Fall River Plant through effective communications techniques

  • Coordinate and lead community-relations activities and events, including (but not limited to) United Way, Habitat for Humanity, etc. to build the company’s brand and plant presence in the community

  • Identify opportunities to promote news, activities, and achievements of the business through media and social media channels

  • Ensure effective execution of communication activities using established processes, identifying and helping to address needs for new processes

  • Work with the manager to ensure all communications follow Whirlpool corporate visual and message guidelines.

  • Support World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and the People Development pillar team as PD Specialists. Attend and participate regularly in PD team meetings, projects, and initiatives. Support the PD pillar leader and aid in documenting employee training and resources in the Compass Room, and other required charting for WCM methodology and practices

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates degree

  • 2+ years’ experience working in Employee Communications in a Corporate or Agency environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Communications, Marketing, or Journalism

  • Knowledge of current communications tools and techniques

  • Graphic and web design portfolio using print and online marketing materials

  • Strong writing skills

  • Formal training and experience in Project Management and Change Management

  • Experience with Google tools - Gmail, Sites, Drive, Forms, etc

  • Understanding of media relations, social media for use with employee and community engagement
