Transdev Road Safety Supervisor in Dorchester, Massachusetts

A Transdev Services Road Safety Supervisor performs a variety of functions to ensure that safe transportation service is efficiently delivered. Position performs both field and office assignments at the discretion of the General Manager/Director of Safety and Training.
Ensures safety and assists the client, School Bus Drivers, and Bus Monitors in overcoming operational challenges.
Supervises and instructs School Bus Drivers with regards to safety, service, and route issues. Assists with on-time performance, as needed.
Conducts on-board evaluations and observes School Bus Drivers on the road, addresses safety problems, and documents safety violations.
Helps mediate issues between School Bus Drivers and students and/or parents.
Utilizes other computer-based systems to monitor and improve on-street service.
Reviews route issues and makes recommendations for improvements.
Monitors service for compliance with motor vehicle laws, Company policies, and contractual safety and operational obligations of the client.
Investigates accidents, incidents, unusual occurrences, and complaints. Compiles comprehensive, accurate and timely (end of shift) Safety deployment reports, incident/accident reports, and complaint investigation and observation records.
Evaluates School Bus Drivers for fitness for duty, as necessary.
Requests replacement buses/School Bus Drivers, as needed, for vehicles involved in accidents or incidents and for special services.
Assists with ensuring the safety of the yards and other Transdev property.
Visits schools to evaluate and address service performance and safety
May be called upon to testify on behalf of the Company at Union grievances, Accident Review Committee meetings, Safety appeals meetings, or other litigations.
Maintains an orderly and clean work area and vehicle.
Adheres to a dress code that demonstrates professionalism and respect.
Participates in Safety Meetings and other events.
Maintains confidentiality of all information.
Other duties as assigned.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required :
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Have and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred :
A valid Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.
A valid Department of Public Utilities (DPU) School Bus license.
Ability to obtain and maintain DOT physical examination.
- Two (2) years of passenger transit related experience.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to compose simple correspondence as well as reports
Must be able to interact professionally with internal and external customers at all levels and demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy, and utilize good judgment and discretion.
Ability to work well with diverse groups.
Must work and interact effectively with diverse groups.
Must be detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills
Proven customer service, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small groups.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Must be able to read a map and possess knowledge of the service area.
Must be able to work early mornings, afternoons or evening shifts to meet operational needs, including weekends and holidays.
Must receive satisfactory results on a pre-employment drug test and background screenings, including fingerprinting.
May be required to satisfactorily pass a pre-employment physical examination.
