MITRE Engenuity is seeking a Director for the Open Generation Consortium, a 5G industry collaboration chartered to deliver the next generation of 5G innovation to industrial verticals. The Director will champion and lead the consortium, working across industry and government, to realize an innovation ecosystem where barriers will be conquered, and technical breakthroughs will be born. This ecosystem will serve as the foundation for driving the infusion of innovation into commercial and government solutions to unlock the power of 5G for deeply technical vertical industries such as aviation, automotive, manufacturing, and health. This position requires an experienced leader who will coordinate the efforts of contributors across different organizations. This leader will expertly manage and grow the consortium to address and expand the consortium’s technical scope, thereby driving immersion of impactful innovation into the 5G ecosystem.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the overall consortium effort spanning the consortium operations (membership management, marketing & communications, strategic planning, financial management) and the technical delivery (managing technical contribution, developing and managing the technical resources and test ranges of the consortium, delivering innovation to drive new business use cases).

  • Continue to build the consortium membership, drawing upon close established relationships among the cellular players and related vertical industries, and grow the consortium’s technical scope, capabilities, and impact.

  • Deliver on the consortium’s commitment to its membership; ensure the quality of work, cohesiveness of collaboration, and impact of output for the consortium.

  • Expand impact of consortium by developing new areas in smart cities, cybersecurity, public safety, industry 4.0 and heathcare

  • Chair the Management Committee of the Consortium fulfilling all duties and commitments as articulated in the Open Generation Operating Charter.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Required Qualifications:

  • Leadership in 5G with associated experience in the telecommunication industry and/or related industrial sectors.

  • Keen awareness of the cellular roadmap, industry offerings and motivations, and the underlying technologies.

  • At least 10 years of experience leading a technical program, organization, business area, or consortium.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering complex technology products and/or outcomes that require extensive coordination of multiple contributing organizations.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and networking skills.

  • BS and 10 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree (MS, or PhD).

  • Proven track record of growing and mobilizing an organization from vision to successful realization of the vision.

  • Solid technical foundation in 5G and its related standards.

  • Extensive network spanning industry and government in the wireless/cellular communications and related verticals (Drones, Transportation, Public Safety, Remote Healthcare, Agriculture, manufacturing, robotics)

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$134,300 - $194,600 - $268,500 Annual
