Bio-Techne Team Lead, Maintenance in Devens, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Lead oversees maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Responsible for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of all manufacturing equipment. Supports new equipment installation, start-up and validation as well as planning preventative maintenance activities. Assists with maintenance of facilities equipment as required. Effectively manage direct reports to ensure maintenance activities are completed as required. Responsibilities include the development of machine operation and maintenance procedures, minimizing machine downtime, training of new machine operators and good housekeeping practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage direct reports responsible for equipment and facilities repairs and maintenance.

  • Hands-on manufacturing equipment troubleshooting and diagnosis. Follow through with documented procedure changes and required ECOs.

  • Research, specify and procure required parts for manufacturing equipment.

  • Maintain spare parts inventory.

  • Assist in procurement, installation, and validation of new manufacturing equipment.

  • Setup maintenance schedules on all equipment and coordinate activities with planning/scheduling.

  • Maintain good housekeeping requirements.

  • Manage multiple projects w/minimal supervision. Maintain projects on a schedule to meet predetermined deadlines.

  • Collaborate in the development of environmental health and safety procedures for facilities.

  • Aid management in preparing maintenance budgets and work to minimize equipment-operating cost.

  • Support training and development of team members to drive the completion of team and individual goals.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws.

  • Follow company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook, SOPs and WIs and as well as follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the safety program and in accordance to the job functions in the department.

  • Align with the Department Manager and support senior leadership initiatives and specific site goals.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma (or equivalent) and 5 - 7 years of work-related experience are preferred.

  • Knowledge of GMP and ISO regulations is preferred.

  • Previous supervisory experience in GMP setting preferred.

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing modern electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Hands-on ability with machine tools such as milling machines and lathes is preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail with good interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Must be capable of working effectively in a team environment with co-workers and management within the organization.

  • Strong English reading and writing skills are required.

  • Lifting ability up to 35lbs and manual dexterity are also required.

  • The position may require occasional extended hours and occasional weekend coverage.

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Remain seated in a normal position for extended periods of time up to 8 hours.

  • Walk, stand, and move for prolonged periods in a workday.

  • Reach up and out with hands and arms.

  • Talk and hear, verbally express information.

  • Keyboard, 10 keys. Repetitive motion; hands, arms

  • Lift up to 25 pounds and carry a distance of 10 feet.

  • Use hands to grasp, hold, move and pickup objects continuously.

  • Ability to stoop or kneel for extended amounts of time.

  • Ability to climb ladders < 5’ high.

  • Occasionally push/ pull up to 200 lbs a distance of up to 100 feet.

  • Able to spend time in cleanroom, freezer and areas of increased noise level.
