The Lead Digital Plant Shift Engineer will be an integral member of the Digital Plant team within Bristol Myers Squibb at the Devens, MA campus. This role requires troubleshooting, root cause analysis, development of resolutions to Incidents, Investigation support, Information and Data requests, and technical support for Biologics Manufacturing Processes in a timely manner with escalation as needed. Business Critical computerized systems include automated process automation systems, manufacturing execution systems, quality system, data systems, and other systems directly supporting operations at the Devens campus. In addition, this role provides application service management, outage management, life-cycle management, and compliant change implementation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Support and Lead the operation of all GMP computerized systems (including Process Automation Systems, and Manufacturing Execution Systems) utilized in the Manufacturing and Process.
Lead process support activities. Develop and manage the training program for the Shift Team. Manage the vacation and campaign change-over resource scheduling.
Provide training, coaching, and technical support to the Primary shift engineer.
Develop and improve standard operating procedures that guide business operations in accordance with compliance requirements.
Provide Direct Regulatory Audit support
Lead Problem investigations and lead the development of requirements to correct incidents.
Manage the DP knowledgebase to ensure it is relevant and complete.
Create Monthly Operational Dashboards to report KPI performance against goals. Make recommendation to performance indicators.
Manage the system outage calendar, impact assessments, and site notifications for planned outages
Work closely with Enterprise teams to coordinate outages and ensure outage impact is well understood and executed right first time.
Lead large OPEX and continuous improvement Initiatives and collaborate across sites to implement Operating and Quality cost reductions.
Lead teams to investigate, define requirements, design, configure / integrate and test process control solutions for a variety of complex technical problems.
Plan, implement and test design solutions per Good Automation Practices.
Support employee development activities.
Provide training, coaching, and support to the shift engineer team.
Assist in setting the team direction, service management goals, and represent the team on key projects.
Requirements - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL
BS in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
5+ years’ experience in the Pharma or Biotech sector, or an equivalent. combination of education / experience.
SME level skills working with Control Systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems in a health authority regulated environment. Experience with DeltaV, OSISoft PI, and Rockwell Logix is preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot control systems from the field element up through operator interfaces, databases, and networks.
High level of understanding of ISA S88 and S95 standards.
Decision making skills for GMP and Data Integrity principles as they relate to computerized system across the System Lifecycle.
Experience managing schedules and engineering resources on mid and large size projects.
Excellent communication skills including oral, written and formal presentations.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead in a team environment.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
Understanding of engineering documentation such as P&IDs, process flow diagrams, loop diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
Experience working with databases including SQL Server, Oracle, or other relational databases preferred but not required.
Ability to work independently.
Work with all departments and with all levels of the organization, specifically Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Manufacturing Operations
Work within all Site Facilities, which requires one to give a high attention to detail and on occasion to properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Although this is primarily a day shift position, support of 24/7 manufacturing operations will require off shift “on-call” coverage (nights and weekends), on a rotating schedule
