Supervises the day-to-day activities of the Instrumentation and Calibration group including technician training, deployment, work execution, work review and approvals.

  • Supervises and ensures compliance with EHS guidelines, cGMP regulations, company policies and other external agency regulations during work execution.

  • Monitors and supports adherence to procedures and programs. Identifies areas of opportunity and of non-compliance (Safety and Quality) and takes specific actions to escalate and to resolve the issue promptly.

  • Supervises the Metrology team with responsibility over all Calibration Data Sheets and Metrology Job Plans Master Data within the system.

  • Manages the use and application of all Metrology Tools. Develops and maintains Calibration Interval management program including minimally invasive instrumentation tasks which support Calibration interval extension.

  • Develops and/or approves SOPs and other technical documentation required for Metrology.

  • Ensures routine calibration and instrumentation activities are performed in accordance with established guidelines and operating procedures.

  • Defines and ensures end user training on Metrology Data Sheets and Work Order processing within the related business system. Works with the Spare Parts group to ensure proper materials and parts are identified and available to sustain Calibrations and Corrective activities Ensures the proper execution and compliance of Metrology work orders. Including work order reviews.

  • Manages the creation, tracking and completion of Metrology related Quality Events within the appropriate tracking system.

  • Provides support to other departments in the investigations and resolutions of Metrology related Quality Events.

  • Conducts basic risk mitigations options and advanced troubleshooting to identify root cause and appropriate corrective actions for equipment system problems.

  • Monitors instrument diagnostics through the Rosemount AMS Software and planning corrective predictive maintenance around instrument needs.

  • Manages the training and development of technicians. Creates, revises, and provides training to technicians. Performs, as needed, a variety of installation, calibration, maintenance, etc.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Equipment Support With relevant experience in metrology.

  • ISA CCST Level I or higher certification preferred.

  • Computer literate in Maximo or similar computer-based calibration program highly desirable Familiarity with basic relay ladder logic, programmable logic controllers, and distributed control system is desired.

  • Experience with DeviceNet and Foundation Field bus instrumentation highly desirable.

  • Experience with the Rosemount A.M.S. Software desirable.

  • Experience in both calibration and maintenance of instrumentation on biotech manufacturing equipment bioreactors, chromatography skis, centrifuge skids, ultra-filtration skids, CIP skids, WFI stills, Clean Steam Generators, Autoclaves, Freezers, Refrigerators, Incubators, etc.

  • Experience using tablets, handhelds, or laptop.

  • Experience with analytical equipment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of maintenance, operations and engineering generally attained through studies resulting in a BS, in engineering, a related discipline, or its equivalent.

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in Maintenance or Operations of Biopharm Manufacturing and Manufacturing Equipment Support With relevant experience in metrology.

Working Conditions

  • Work in an office environment, as well as the manufacturing facility on equipment, where proper PPE may be required.

Works on problems of moderate to complex scope in which analysis of situations or data requires review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Acts as advisor to unit employees and becomes actively involved as required to meet schedules or resolve problems. Ensures budgets, schedules, and performance requirements are met.

Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals and processes to meet objectives. Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting of objectives and schedules. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Recommends changes to unit policies, and procedures.
