PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Senior Manager, Value Stream Performance is responsible for the development, utilization, and subsequent creation of strategy using data analytical tools. This role will ensure continuous improvement efforts are well defined, prioritized, and positions to deliver. Additionally, this role will be required to provide support and act as a key driver for cultural maturity moving towards a more data driven environment. This role will engage directly with functional area owners to assess and develop functional area capability through capacity, cost and or quality drivers.

  • This position exists to serve the business through the development and application of Operational Excellence principles as they relate to process modeling, model application, KPI development, KPI monitoring, and related Continuous Improvement activities.

  • The context of this position is one in relation to achieving value stream growth and optimization through data driven approach and strategic prioritization

  • The goal of this position is to serve as a key change agent in developing, coaching, implementing key business functions and improvements across the value stream

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identifies and facilitates the acquisition of data for applicational use throughout the value stream:

  • Develop value stream maps and identifies required data for display and analysis

  • Complete process maps and time studies required to capture current state

  • Drive tier board development to capture KPI’s

  • Develop infrastructure to integrate and automate data acquisition to appropriate models

Uses data to support business decisions through functional area support or business operation:

  • Supports the development of dashboard tools to support site objectives

  • Works with functional area owners to measure and analyze conditions leading to the mitigation of key performance gaps (Capacity, throughput, quality, etc.)

  • Develop standards regarding the application of models and data analytics to common use cases that include but are not limited to Capacity, Quality, COGM (Cost of Goods in Manufacturing)

Fosters a culture of continuous improvement:

  • Coaches and encourage the use of Lean problem-solving tools

  • Demonstrates how different applications of analytical tools can be used to identify and mitigate issues

  • Provides a resource to help functional areas take ownership through learned skills related to Continuous Improvement and problem-solving opportunities

  • Performs other tasks as assigned

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • M.S. Industrial, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering

  • 3-5 years of Pharmaceutical Experience (preferred). Experience in other relevant industries may be considered

  • Basic understanding of Cell Therapy and any one of GMP manufacturing, supply chain, QA/QC functions

  • Understanding of Operational Excellence concepts and applications in and around value stream modeling and KPI application. Lean Six Sigma Training and/or Certification is desirable.

  • Ability to coach and develop others outside of S&BO (Strategy and Business Operations)

  • Advanced ability to communicate ideas, strategies, and or framing information for various audiences

  • Ability to lead/facilitate/influence project teams

  • Advanced ability to develop and adhere to new business practices as they pertain to model application, validation, and administrative aspects

  • Understanding of database tools and applications

  • Understanding of modeling tools and techniques

  • Ability to clearly depict a narrative supporting problem solving or strategic opportunity within meetings or presentation both verbally and using visuals such as PowerPoint
