Avantor, Inc. Manufacturing Engineering Technician in Devens, Massachusetts

Job SummaryThis position is responsible for activities relating to the daily production engineering release process for single use products. This includes: generation of production protocols, process and quality improvement, production flow and standard work development, process definition, and documentation. This includes ensuring the assembly will meet the performance criteria required by the customer. This position will work closely with account managers, customer service, production and quality.Operates generally under the supervision of manufacturing engineering personnel and production supervision in the performance of the above responsibilities and does not have any direct or indirect reports.


  • Responsible for daily production support to generate production protocols, creation of standard work documents, and process fixtures

  • Assist in resolving customer complaints in a timely manner; notify management of problems and suggest corrective actions.

  • Leads & assists with process development and improvement activities.

  • Supports the implementation and validation of process and product documentation.

  • Develops and implements various tooling and fixturing to meet the needs of the Manufacturing department

  • Supports and implements preventative maintenance and calibration programs

  • Other duties as required

  • Assist in resolving customer complaints in a timely manner; notify management of problems and suggest corrective actions.

  • Understand and support company operating procedures to provide proper and effective service to all customers and foster the development of long term business relationships.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

Skill Requirements

  • Ability to define and develop single piece flow production methods in support of single use sterile assemblies.

  • Ability to read and work with technical drawings and translate into documents for production use

  • Familiarity with operating in an ISO-9000, cGMP and Lean Manufacturing environment

  • Computer literacy is required

  • Familiarity with FDA documentation a plus

Required/ Preferred Education and Experience

  • Requires a minimum of a high school degree with experience in technical writing or medical device field or a Vocational/Technical degree or equivalent

  • Should have a minimum of 3-5 year of direct floor support experience or assembly experience

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Occasional travel may be required.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
