Position Overview
To execute project management for planning, design, implementation and close-out of capital projects at the Devens site, instituting proper controls to assure financial and regulatory compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities
Troubleshoot customer service calls related to building maintenance assets
Individual will partner with subject matter experts (SME) & Reliability services to trouble operational issues.
Role will support of the following operations at the BMS Devens campus:
Biologics Large Scale Commercial Manufacturing
Biologics Clinical Manufacturing
Biologics Cell Bank Manufacturing
Biologics Development and Laboratory operations
CAR-T (Cell Therapy) Manufacturing
Coordinates project design, cost estimates, schedule, interface with client, etc. on capital projects.
Manages project implementation including oversight of selected vendors.
Determines specific customer and stakeholder requirements and manages communication across organizational and functional boundaries to assure that customers, peers, and support groups have a good understanding of the scope and deliverables for assigned projects.
Contribute to a high-performance culture by recognizing and resolving issues as they arise.
Assures that all assigned projects comply with budgetary, regulatory, department, safety and company standards.
Generate work orders and repair for defects found during inspections.
Provide support for co-workers, contractors, vendors, project managers, building managers, engineers and others as necessary to support project and renovation work. Issue Lock Out/Tag Out permits, monitor work, and ensure work is performed in a manner consistent with established work practices and quality standards.
Provide training to other team members to ensure continued customer support during an absence.
May be required to work scheduled/unscheduled shifts and emergency on-call as needed.
Participates in a detailed training program, in order to develop as an SME in the maintenance operations field.
Ensures all assigned work is completed within the assigned scheduled shift.
Performs various "Housekeeping" activities (i.e. keeping work areas clean, cleaning of equipment etc.).
Supports on-call response.
Participates actively in Failure Modes and Effect Analysis.
Knowledge & Skill
Knowledge of engineering generally attained through studies resulting in a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering preferred).
A minimum of 4 years of experience in conceptual development, project management, planning and scheduling projects, including experience in the Biotech or related industry.
Knowledge and experience with regulatory requirements, engineering principles, and construction techniques is important.
Demonstrated proficiency communicating and collaborating at a variety of levels with customers, vendors, equipment suppliers and operations staff.
Experience in supporting manufacturing operations is desired.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proven success working well in a team environment with flexibility to react to changing business needs.
The candidate should also demonstrate core BMS behaviors, especially Accountability and Urgency.
Contacts
Work with all departments and with all levels of the organization, and with contract vendors engaged in design and construction. Occasional interactions with local and state officials relating to permitting and inspections.
Work is performed in a state-of-the-art large scale cell culture facility with classified areas requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). These roles require some contact with hazardous materials such as caustic, and steam.
*Requires overtime, weekend and on-call duty.
