Manager, Business Operations

The Biologics Development Business Operations department supports both strategic and operational objectives for Biologics Development with support of capital and asset management, lab operations, project management, resource management, outsourcing, operational excellence and learning and compliance.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Business Operations, this individual will be responsible for the planning and execution of a broad range of activities to support Biologics Development organization including comprehensive operational excellence and project management support for Biologics Development (BD).

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the identification and implementation of BD Operational Excellence projects, with the goal of delivering productivity improvements across BD and embed it into daily work.

  • Coordinates with PD Operational Excellence group for alignment on strategies

  • Leads in the development, implementation, and refinement of project management tools and metrics

  • Partners with PD OpEx and Business Insights & Analytics to define KPIs and program analytics to quantify operational excellence efficiency and effectiveness in the scientific community.

  • Oversee all BD etime compliance, metrics and data analysis

  • Manage the management of BD headcount to simplify and improve reporting of headcount, turnover information, requisition status

  • Serve as project manager and /or participate, as needed, in any initiatives that are identified in BD annual objectives and/or strategic initiatives.

  • Provide departmental business operations support for the head of BD Operations (track objectives, facilitate staff meetings, create/maintain SharePoint sites amongst other activities).

Individual will interface with various levels of Biologics Development leadership, GPS Operational Excellence, Facilities & Engineering, Strategic Business Operations and Finance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or relevant scientific discipline with >5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or related industry. Advanced degree or MBA preferred.

  • Project management experience with the ability to develop clear action plans and drive execution to meet timelines and deliver on commitments.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence, negotiate, and drive organizational engagement.

  • Capable of bringing structure to vaguely defined problems while using creative yet pragmatic problem-solving approaches and execution management

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and executive-level messaging skills

  • Ability to build relationships and influence, and drive organizational engagement

  • Strong ability to ensure connectivity across multiple functions across sites and with the enterprise

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
