Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking a Associate Director, Procurement, Site Operations Lead for its Devens Biologics manufacturing facility in Devens, MA. This position will have the primary responsibility of managing a team responsible for sourcing local/regional direct bio process materials, indirect materials, capital equipment, and related services. In addition to this procurement responsibility, the successful candidate will also be part of the site leadership team (LT). In this leadership role you will be expected to articulate and lead strategic procurement initiatives but also be a business leader and contribute into both tactical and strategic site initiatives and planning centered around safety culture, people strategy and development, quality culture, cost stewardship and site performance and delivery.
The position requires strong alignment with the Biologics manufacturing network strategy, close partnership with the site management team and peer functional leads at site, and engagement with GPS sites to ensure optimal value for the local site and BMS overall. Devens is a co-located campus with our internal Cell Therapy (CT) site so the successful candidate will also have a campus wider remit across indirect categories and will work closely with the CT AD focused on campus value delivery. Active participation, prioritization and contribution to Devens site leadership team across all facets of site business and operations focus - Safety, People, Quality, Delivery and cost pillars. The successful candidate will lead the following procurement activities and ensure these activities (as and when applicable) are part of site LT governance discussions.
Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Direct Material & Indirect Material/Services & Capital Projects Supply Management
Ensure continuity of direct material supply for cGMP manufacturing operations & and for all indirect material/services supply for cGMP & non GMP manufacturing operations by managing suppliers and engaging with site stakeholders and global support and network category lead/management teams.
Develop and execute regional sub-category strategies and capital investment strategies, ensuring compliance and governance on major capital projects.
Strategic Procurement
Focus on strategic value capture at the site level, including spend segmentation, risk identification, and savings opportunities through supplier renegotiation.
Ensure value capture visibility through Sievo, participating in bi-weekly update sessions to report to leadership.
Risk Management
- Lead site-based risk assessments and business continuity processes. Demonstrate a strategically proactive risk management mindset to manage and pre-empt identified risk, engage and align with peers to implement proactive solutions and measures.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish and maintain recurring discussions with the Site GM and peer functional leads and drive/lead/evolve Supplier Relationship Management programs in alignment with Category Leads and Site Stakeholder teams across direct and indirect categories.
Performance Metrics
- Achieve and exceed metrics such as value beyond savings, purchase price variance (PPV), receipt to promise (RTP), inventory, and invoicing compliance.
Standardization & Cost Savings
- Lead efforts for standardization of raw materials and consumables, driving cost savings through alternate/secondary sourcing.
Leadership & Guidance
Provide leadership to department personnel executing sourcing events and lead the annual budget process for site operations focused on all functional categories (direct, indirect and capital).
Recruit, manage, and develop a team of procurement operations personnel, creating a strategic vision to achieve best-in-class site objectives for supply and services.
Audit Support
- Support cGMP or Finance audit activities, escalate supply related audit requests.
Procure to Pay Transactions
- Manage procure to pay transactions, enforce policies internal controls, support end-users, and govern sourcing activities and approvals.
Contract Management
- Oversee contract management, creation of legal documents, and support LOIs, SOWs, and MSAs across the site and network.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education of a B.S./B.A. in science, engineering, or business.
Minimum of seven (7) years of multi-disciplined procurement experience. Preferred experience in a technical, operational, or business role within the relevant industry.
Proficiency with SAP and/or other ERP systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally. Strong customer service orientation with excellent analytic, interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
Prior cGMP experience in biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, and/or medical device industry is highly preferred.
