POSITION Welch's is looking for an experienced Category Development Manager that has strong leadership skills, is highly motivated and analytically minded, who thrives working in a fast-paced environment, to drive insights and thought leadership within the Welch's sales organization. This person will spend half of the time, dedicated against Category Management and Analytics specific to Target/West Area. The other half of the time will be spent working on Corporate Category Management responsibilities with the Sales Planning Team including but not limited to: National category & pricing analytics for all channels (food, mass, club, value, food service, vending, DSD), tracking/measuring/communicating progress against DSMP objectives, and managing the budget for our category management investments. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Develop tools, analytics, and selling decks for the sales team to facilitate selling efforts in support of annual objectives that drive long-term, sustainable, profitable growth for all channels. Develop and manage reporting & communication against national DSMP goals (distribution, shelving, merchandising, pricing). Identify risks/opportunities, with proposed recommendations. Leverage trade efficiency knowledge to analyze pricing and promotional performance; ensure trade "goalposts and guidelines" are being adhered to. Work w/Consumer Insights and IRI teams to gather and disseminate critical knowledge throughout the sales organization. Manage the Category Management budget, contracts, & payments. Develop and cultivate business relationships with Target key contacts that establish Welch's as the indispensable partner for all category management needs. Mine consumer, shopper, category and marketplace insights and trends to guide the Target's, strategic choices and tactical executions, to drive market-leading growth for the short and long term. Develop strong POG recommendations by using merchandising principals aligned with Target merchant team's strategic direction and operational efficiency. Provide category management reporting, trend analysis, customized reports, and special project work directly to the Target merchant team. Develops and delivers succinct, concise, and compelling presentations that can be further tailored by customer teams that clearly communicate opportunities and issues, and offers key findings and implications (the "so what") across the 4Ps, linking to the roadmap where appropriate; Includes ad-hoc projects, annual and midyear category reviews, and monthly scorecarding for account team and retailer. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: A Bachelor's Degree is required A minimum of 5 years of CPG experience, with a focus on category management (mandatory), business analytics and/or shopper insights.
