Kayem Foods, Inc. Team Lead Old Side Kitchen - 1st Shift in Chelsea, Massachusetts

SUMMARY: Responsible for aiding supervisor in real-time management of operations. In absence of supervisor, Team Leader is responsible for maintaining the flow of production. The Team Leader ensures that the product is made properly, in the correct quantities, and at the correct time as per the customers’ specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the supervision in accomplishing productivity and quality goals.

    • Inspect all products to identify non-conforming items before they leave the department.
  • Correct non-conforming items or hold them for review and notify the supervisor.

  • Train and guide new employees and trainees on proper methods and procedures.

  • Assign personnel to production lines to meet productivity standards.

  • Start production lines on time, including after every break.

  • Manage production schedules to meet deadlines efficiently.

  • Ensure production meets scheduled quantities.

  • Provide constructive feedback to employees on methods and procedures.

  • Monitor production crews to ensure consistent output.

  • Report mechanical, material, or personnel issues to the supervisor promptly.

  • Enforce all safety rules and procedures, including lock-out/tag-out and PPE compliance.

  • Learn and apply knowledge about equipment, setup procedures, and required documentation.

  • Maintain clean, sanitary, and safe work practices, tools, and areas.

  • Complete all required paperwork accurately.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have experience or working knowledge of processing equipment operation, processing specifications, and labeling requirements

  • Must also have basic knowledge of mathematics and calculations relating to the production

  • Good English skills and be able to complete required paperwork (productivity reports and other miscellaneous paperwork)

  • Capable of regularly lifting and /or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift or move up to 75 lbs.

  • Ability to work on production floor; a wet, cold, and loud environment

  • Previous food manufacturing experience a plus
