Kayem Foods, Inc. Purchasing Associate in Chelsea, Massachusetts
Purpose of Position:
The Procurement Assistant will assist with the responsibilities and goals of the procurement department. Responsibilities include coordinating activities involved with ensuring delivery and expedition of goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, for organization.
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
Expedites delivery of goods to users.
Manage open order report.
Manage and expedite Purchase Orders as needed.
Maintain pricing and vendor details in system.
Optimization of ERP system
Maintain a thorough knowledge of uses of the purchased supplies.
Investigate all sources to determine market trends that may have an effect on prices.
Monitor equipment issues with printers, copiers etc.
Learn and ensure company and U.S.D.A. policies are followed.
Cross-train other employees.
Backup the buyers
Manage status of deliveries.
Manage freight manifests and portals.
Other responsibilities assigned, as required
Response time to expedite requests
Monitor vendor performance
Monitor demand trends
The Procurement Assistant reports directly to the Procurement Director
Procurement Team, Customer Service Team, Sales, Operations, Vendors
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
It is expected that the Procurement Specialist possess these critical skills through prior knowledge and/or Kayem Foods training:
Remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
Friendly, courteous, service-oriented, and flexible and enjoy working with a variety of staff.
Detail-oriented and work effectively under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines.
Must be able to work independently and with little direct supervision.
Must be well organized, a forward thinker and have excellent communication skills.
Basic knowledge of purchasing functions and in maintaining vendor relationships.
Proven success in achieving professional goals.
Strong negotiation skills.
Computer program capabilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Familiarity or ability to learn Microsoft AX.
