Kayem Foods, Inc. Maintenance Mechanic 3rd shift in Chelsea, Massachusetts

RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent may be required to perform all, or a combination of the following:

  • Maintains and repairs complex industrial equipment, including mechanical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic control systems, PLC controlled production equipment and ensures timely corrective action

  • Examines, locates, and diagnoses complex equipment failure and repairs equipment working from maintenance schedules, detailed drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, prints, manuals, verbal and/or written instruction

  • Installs and Incorporates changes, modifications, upgrades into existing complex manufacturing and facility equipment and lines

  • May recommend design changes for optical, vacuum, electrical, electronic or mechanical systems

  • Responds to calls and written work orders by Maintenance team and operations

  • Performs planned and ad hoc preventive maintenance activities on equipment and in facility with a variety of hand, power, test tools, or other equipment

  • May estimate labor and equipment costs, prepares requisitions as required and maintains appropriate maintenance, inventory, repair logs

  • Completes work order requisitions and other administrative duties as assigned

  • Trains and mentors peers in maintenance and operations

  • Other duties and projects as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • At Minimum 5 years working as an industrial equipment mechanic with strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Familiarity with conveying systems, inkjet printers, vacuum parking equipment, label applicators, relays, 3 phase motors, drives, sensor pumps, and PLC controlled production equipment

  • Ability to evaluate and diagnose equipment failures related to hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical equipment and PLC’s

  • Strong electro-mechanical and industrial facility maintenance skills

  • Ability to work well with mathematical concepts

  • Must be able to learn and use Maintenance Connection CMMS (Computerized maintenance management) system

  • Candidate must have ability to supply their own tools; specialty tools are available onsite for use

  • Computer/HMI (Human-machine interface) and PLC (Programmable logic controllers) skills preferred, training available

  • Proficiency with reading, writing, and speaking English; Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

  • Ability to use/learn a Computerized Maintenance Management system to respond to and complete work orders

  • Ability to use MS Office- including Word and Outlook

  • Ability to use/learn a Computerized Maintenance Management system to respond to and complete work orders

  • Knowledge of food manufacturing industry and maintenance highly desired

  • The employee must regularly lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit climb or balance, and smell

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical manuals

  • Ability to write technical documents and procedures and SOPS

  • Knowledge of production standards and design engineering standards
