Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking to hire a Sr. Reliability Engineer at our campus in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. This exciting role will offer the opportunity to work with our industry leading electrical design professionals. The Reliability Engineer will lead Reliability projects which will contain at a minimum Reliability Predictions per MIL-STD-217, FMECA / FMEA. The Engineer will support the development and production of complex multi-function modules used in challenging high reliability applications. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring the electrical components in the modules meet the highest reliability requirements as well as the product life cycle requirements. The engineer will work on unusually complex reliability problems, leading failure investigations and establishing screening requirements. The engineer will implement strategies to mitigate the risks associated with pure tin finishes. The engineer will review Product Change Notices (PCNs) and Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) alerts for impacts on our products. The engineer will be responsible for qualifying COTs electronic components for high reliability military use. The engineer will generate formal reports and present them to the military customer. The engineer will monitor existing designs for obsolescence and develop strategies to mitigate the obsolescence. The engineer will collaborate with other engineering disciplines to include hardware engineers, systems engineers, and circuit design engineers as well as technicians and manufacturing support personnel.

Relocation: Relocation assistance is possible for this exciting position. The Locale: Chelmsford, Massachusetts is a charming suburb of Boston located about 25 miles northwest of that city. Chelmsford is very close to historic Lowell Massachusetts and to Nashua, New Hampshire. Chelmsford is within reach of New Hampshire’s White Mountains and awesome ski areas to the north, and the scenic coastal towns of MA and NH are about an hour east. This scenic colonial region offers lots of New England charm, great schools, shopping, and restaurants. Chelmsford and the region share an impressive past from the early days after the pilgrims arrived in Plymouth to the revolutionary war. Where can you get to from Chelmsford? Chelmsford is about 90 minutes from Cape Cod. Boston is about 30 minutes to the east without traffic. New York City is about 4.5 hours away from Chelmsford. Waterville Valley and other major ski resorts of New Hampshire and Vermont are about 2 to 3 hours to the north. It should be noted that Chelmsford, Massachusetts is approximately 35 miles northwest of the Boston metropolitan area and offers better access to a wide range of substantially more affordable regions in the area to live. Those regions include Northeastern and North Central Massachusetts, and Southern, New Hampshire.
• Basic Qualifications for this position will include a BS
Degree and experience in working in the electronics
• Familiarity with Reliability Analysis tools such as Relex / PTC Windchill or equivalent
• Strong written and verbal communications skills to
include strong presentation skills are required.
• Demonstrated attention to detail is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in
a team environment are required.
• Exposure to high reliability Military component
standards and specifications such as MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-38534, MIL-PRF-55342, or MIL-PRF-55681 is
• Experience with Component Engineering Drawings,
Source Control Drawings (SCD), Altered Item Drawings
(AID), and/or Vendor Item Drawings (VID) is required.
• The ability to multitask is required.
• Strong organizational skills are required.
• Strong computer skills to include MS Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint is required.
• Candidate must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
and have the ability to be granted an interim secret prior
• Experience with SAP, Microsoft Access, Oracle, or
similar database systems is desired.
• Experience in Obsolescence management
• Experience with component database services such as
QSTAR and Silicon Expert.
• Prior engineering experience within the Aerospace,
Aeronautics, Defense, Space, Automotive, or Electronics
Sectors is desired.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Reliability Analysis practices
