Position Purpose:

Oversees Cross Connection Control Program that consists of performing all administrative work associated with monitoring, scheduling, tracking and coordinating a Cross Connection Control Program.

Ensures compliance with all Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Cross Connection and Backflow Regulations.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collects bacteriological water samples for compliance, clearance or system checks, tests for pH and chlorine residual and records data, and delivers samples to the laboratory.

  • Collects compliance water samples for various chemical analyses, delivers the samples to the Laboratory and records the collection data

  • Collects sample for various analytical requirements, delivers samples to appropriate laboratory or Commercial shippers and records the collection data in Hach Wim's.

  • Prepares bacteriological water samples forms prior to sample collection.

  • Ensures that proper inventory of water sample bottles, forms and supplies is maintained

  • Maintains automatic samples and other sampling equipment to ensure proper performance.

  • Maintains a detailed and accurate logbook of all sample collection information to ensure accurate chain-of custody information and assumes responsibility for the integrity of all samples collected and of all analyses performed.

  • Makes suitable recommendations as to the proper action to be taken and prepares routine task and reports.

  • Keeps needed records and reports necessary for the job.

  • Coordinate with the lab on scheduled pick up for necessary samples.

  • Administer the Cross Connection Program to ensure that all cross connections are eliminated or protected and to ensure compliance with state and local regulations.

  • Test communications to customers. Receive, review, and record test results in work management system.

  • Take further action as required by the Company's Cross-Control Program.

  • Must learn and comply with all safety procedures.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, mechanical, electrical and chemical equipment and other potential hazards.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • The employee will be provided safety equipment and training against anticipated exposure risks and without exception will comply with all safety mandates set by Veolia.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Water treatment industry.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • An understanding of computer applications is essential.

  • A general knowledge of water treatment and laboratory testing is desirable.

  • Mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills are required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in conversation and in writing.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with people at all levels, both internally and externally.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word and Excel.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Valid Driver's License.
