The Director, Productivity Management is a member of the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) system Services Finance team, reporting directly to the Executive Director, Finance and Performance Improvement. Under the direction of the executive director, this position is responsible for the daily oversight, management, and direction of productivity and benchmarking activities for the hospitals and system services departments. They are responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating strategies and initiatives to improve the organization's productivity. They collaborate with leaders, managers, and employees to identify and address productivity issues, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  1. Collaborates with department and service-line leaders to proactively identify short and long-term productivity goals and develop action plans that lead to improved financial and operational performance. Develops solutions that are feasible, cost-effective and acceptable to the present stakeholders. Periodically monitors progress towards process improvement goals. (essential)

  2. Develops productivity programs (Laborlytics) to enhance processes, workflows, systems and tools.

  3. Fosters an environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement among all employees staying abreast of industry best practices and benchmark against leading organizations.

  4. Possesses subject matter expertise in finance and productivity systems. Utilizes experience to train department leaders on financial impact of clinical and operational decisions. (essential)

  5. Conducts financial assessments on an ongoing basis to anticipate challenges and identify opportunities for financial improvement via service-line growth, revenue cycle improvements, and expense reduction initiatives. Perform assessments, analytical research and support including, but not limited to: root-cause analyses, cost/benefit analyses, and financial projection for departments (essential)

  6. Oversees and performs quantitative analyses to inform decision-making and monitor progress against goals. Demonstrates a high level of personal and professional integrity. Possesses a strong work ethic with the ability to take initiative, as well as work collaboratively and contribute to a positive team environment. (essential)

  7. Works with high degree of independence, while possessing strong judgment as to when to escalate concerns to leadership. Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning. (essential)

  8. Has the authority to direct and support managers with functional area responsibilities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: 2-3 Indirect Reports: None

  9. Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business required. Master's degree in Business Administration or equivalent industry training and experience preferred.

Licensure, Certification & Registration: None

Experience: 3-5 years related work experience required in a health care setting and 1-3 years supervisory/management experience required

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  1. Able to work independently and handle multiple priorities.

  2. Understands context of assignments and tasks and able to be flexible and adaptable to changing roles & priorities.

  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with facility staff and community.

  4. Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Lean six-sigma certification.

  2. Membership in ACHE or HFMA.
