Citizens Bank Risk Analyst – Commercial Credit Reporting in Canton, Massachusetts


The Senior Credit Risk Reporting Analyst will contribute to the design and development of credit risk analytics and reporting for a wide number of stakeholders of Citizens Financial Group. The candidate will work with Enterprise Data colleagues and business partners in Relationship Management, Portfolio Management, the Chief Credit Office, Investor Relations, and others to develop dynamic, forward-looking credit MIS focusing on the level and types of commercial credit risk incurred by the wider Bank, enabling business executives to identify and manage risks proactively. Meet with credit officers and business line representatives in order to discuss reporting needs, performance and risk management measurements and potential enhancement opportunities, and will keep informed about updated regulatory and industry reporting and presentation standards, using this knowledge to contribute to improvements in MIS for the wider organization.

Ability to be self-starting in terms of idea generation for analytics (e.g. peer bank analytics; marrying of credit data with ROC and other return-oriented data; risk appetite and credit portfolio management support), as well as peer mentoring/tutelage responsibilities.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Serve as RACOE’s primary liaison for stakeholders of one or more of the Bank’s most critical segments, including Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Leveraged Finance, as well as a variety of industry coverage types such as healthcare and education. Work with relationship managers, first- and second-line credit officers, and senior risk and business managers to fully “own” all aspects of the particular segment(s) from a data and analysis perspective

  • Serve as the Risk Reporting & Analytics Center of Excellence’s (RACOE’s) primary support staffer for the Bank’s credit risk appetite program, not only providing routine monitoring but also advancing the capabilities of the program itself, working closely with members of first-and-second line risk, including the Bank’s ACL and Risk Architecture staff

  • Draft and publish portfolio reports in standardized formats suitable for regulators, executive management, and the Board of Directors

  • Participate in the preparation of special reports and other ad hoc reporting projects

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Data and business partners to develop and implement best practices for risk identification, measurement, performance and evaluation

  • Participate and contribute to internal discussions on identified credit risk and/or data-related issues in review meetings with senior management; establish and execute upon management action plans to close self-identified gaps


Required Skills/Experience:

  • 7-10 years of financial services experience, preferably with large commercial and/or institutional banks, and preferably with risk, finance, and/or reporting experience.

  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as Cognos, Tableau, WebFocus, etc.

  • Ability to be equally effective in performance of rote reporting duties as well as high-touch analytical work depending on the needs of the given week/month/quarter

  • Advanced use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Preference for background in commercial/institutional banking strategy (whether as analyst, capital manager, auditor, etc.); strong preference for completion of a formal credit training program

Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:

  • Bachelor's Degree mandatory; MS (Finance or related), MBA, and/or advanced industry certification (e.g. CFA/FRM designations) preferre
