The Purchasing and Logistics Manager is responsible for timely and adequate stock of parts and supplies necessary to fulfill customer orders and shop needs at the time of those requirements. This manager also leads the logistics team that is responsible for timely and cost-effective delivery of machines to Reiser’s customers and to various trade shows.
Manages purchases, and inventory levels to achieve 100% on-time order fulfillment goals. Maintains records including pricing, lead time, safety stock, minimum order quantity, order multiple, supplier information, and performance measures. Utilizes those records to improve our performance. Evaluates excess and obsolete material to disposition and drive corrective action to prevent recurrence.
Evaluate suppliers based on their ability to perform to quality, delivery, and cost expectations. Ensure all procured items meet required quality standards and specifications.
Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services that are of better quality, a better price, and/or have better delivery times. Research and evaluate buying opportunities and prospective suppliers using solid industry expertise, internal information, and your negotiation skills.
Manages and monitors inventory stock position using recommendations from suppliers, understanding trends and automated queues received from the Company’s ERP system, Prelude. Develop reports and tools to help you ensure appropriate quantity and timing of parts and components supply. Expedites problem purchase orders for orders placed by self and others when those responsible for expediting have been unable to get a satisfactory result.
Requests bids, analyzes costs, and negotiates best possible outcome with suppliers, including initial cost, latent costs, on-time deliveries, freight costs, quality, quantity, packaging, payment discounts, and claims adjustments.
Direct supervision of 8 employees and work closely with others to assure purchase requisitions and orders are properly negotiated, accurate, complete, and timely. Develop a team that thinks and acts as if they are spending their own money.
Monitors parts gross profit reports to ensure adequate margin is realized.
Oversees resolution of transactional and quality issues related to purchased materials. Quickly addresses suppliers’ failures to meet specifications for quality, quantity, packaging, or paperwork. Evaluate and disposition non-conforming material, resolve invoicing and shipment discrepancies, and manage damage claims.
Manages the process of warranty returned parts from notification of pending receipt to return to supplier. Report on untimely return of defective products, the cost to Reiser or our customer of that untimely return and leads corrective action.
Analyze data from shipping and delivering processes to find bottlenecks, improved delivery methods, more cost-effective solutions, and other issues.
Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested.
