Saturday: 6:00am - 2:00pmJob Function:Facilities Position Description:

  • Operates the Harvard University telephone system answering telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner, and performs various system functions, including, but not limited to call forwarding, call transferring, and call conferencing.

  • Operates the Maximo Work Order Management System by entering accurate data for all incoming events as they occur, utilizing the features of the system to review open calls, assign responders, query for data and generate reports.

  • Operates the Campus Fire Alarm Monitoring System, wireless, ISO and dialer accounts, by processing signals, such as fire alarms, supervisory alarms, trouble alarms and carbon monoxide alarms. Placing properties in and out of test mode in conjunction with Fire Safety Services.

  • Access and utilize the C-Cure security management system as well as the Campus Services Paging Web Site for notifications to both pager and phone carriers previously populated into the system.

  • Operates the two-way radio communications system utilizing the Avtec base station.

  • Operates various Energy and Building Management Systems, including but not limited to, Siemens Desigo application and Schneider Ecostruxure application. Responds to all system alarms, failures, troubles, etc. in an appropriate fashion.

  • Utilizes FINS, (Facilities Incident Notification System) to affect emergency and routine response, including referencing general and building protocols, external and internal contacts. Search for vendors, contacts and other pertinent information located in the system.

  • Performs supporting functions during emergency situations.

  • Follows and adheres to set Operations Center processes and protocols.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Energy & Facilities (E&F) operates and manages Harvard’s energy supplies, district energy plants, and utility infrastructures on the Cambridge/Allston campuses, as well as a 24/7 facilities-related call, alarm monitoring, and dispatch center. E&F also provides a broad portfolio of labor-based services, including building maintenance, landscaping, and custodial, to a large portion of the University, as well as engineering, technical, and sustainability services. Within E&F, Engineering & Utilities (E&U) operates and manages energy supplies, district energy plants, and utility infrastructures on the Cambridge/Allston campuses, a 24/7 facilities-related call, alarm monitoring, and dispatch center, and provides engineering and technical services.

The Operations Center Workstation Operator B is responsible for assisting in the successful operation of the customer service-based University Operations Center, an integrated systems monitoring, dispatch, and operations control center. The Operations Center is staffed 24 hours per day and initiates response through knowledge and monitoring of critical building systems providing prompt dispatch of responders, notification to key contacts, and communication of response activities to the Harvard community. It is a UL listed proprietary station for receipt and dispatch of fire alarms covering approximately 400 buildings on campus and handles over 130,000 facilities related phone calls per year.

The Operations Center Workstation Operator B is responsible for operating all network and communication systems including but not limited to, energy and building management systems, fire alarm system, security management system, and work order management system under the guidance and direction of the shift supervisor.

Work Format:On-Site Work Format Details:This position is based primarily on-campus, in Massachusetts. This may include in-person during emergency situations (if applicable).
