Location/Division Specific Information

This position reports into the Viral Vector Services group at Thermo Fisher Scientific and is based in Cambridge, MA.

How will you make an impact?

The Sr Operations Training Coordinator will utilize knowledge of the site's training system and Manufacturing's operating procedures and practices to enhance the organization's knowledge base through execution of effective and efficient training. The qualified trainer will create and maintain the Competency Based Leading (CBL), Onboarding program, On-the-Job trainings (OJTs), structured discussions and maintaining relevant area procedures and training materials.

What will you do?

Assess where training is most needed, conduct training sessions and evaluate effectiveness

Enhance productivity and quality of work by developing effective training material such as, OJTs, Structure discussion, power point slides, etc.

Promote safe work habits and adhere to safety procedures and guidelines

Communicate with the Operations team to identify training needs

Coordinate and conduct trainings in support of and associated with the Manufacturing areas

Create instructional materials to be used in training

Develop and implement training courses and material for manufacturing operations

The Sr Operations Training Coordinator has strong interpersonal skills and excels at working with staff of all skill levels and personality types to support learning development. This positions requires understanding of manufacturing operations and ability to adapt to situations for leveraging new processes including safety.


High school diploma or STEM/Biotechnology certificate and 3 years industry experience.

Bachelor's degree and 2 years' experience preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Prior experience training peers on both concepts and task execution or experience as a Qualified Trainer in a Manufacturing environment

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Full GMP understanding. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor. Understanding of the science behind the process with ability interpret data and inputs. Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Good autonomous problem-solving skills. Investigative skills. Understand cleanroom concepts. Ability to follow directions & procedures and work in team environment. Strong attention to detail and drive to accomplish the job timely, accurately and safely the first time is required, as well as the ability to work closely and effectively in a team environment. Ability to apply knowledge of Good Manufacturing processes and the knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical processes, equipment, instrumentation, and procedures. Able to effectively organize and manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously. Able to function in a dynamic environment and learn new equipment, software and tools quickly. The shift for this position is Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm in a 24-hour, 7 day per week operation to include evenings and holidays.
