Microsoft Corporation Sr. Director Planning and Governance in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Commercial System and BI team is seeking a dynamic senior leader to develop and ensure consistent and repeatable approaches to the planning and governance of CSBI strategic initiatives enabling increased capabilities and operational efficiencies across Microsoft Customer & Partner Solutions (MCAPS) , globally.

About the MCAPS Strategy & Operations organization

We drive the development and execution of the Commercial strategy and field operating model. This includes how the organization benefits customers and partners, enabling MCAPS to support them more effectively, efficiently, and with competitive differentiation. The team builds the connective tissue across MCAPS Leadership and partners across Microsoft to gain alignment and leverage existing capabilities, while empowering our people to be nimble, agile, successful, and thrilled to work for Microsoft.

About the role

This role will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the operating and governance models of the Commercial Systems & BI team to drive business continuity and ensure consistent, predictable and repeatable approaches to:

  • Portfolio Management - Responsible for the Intake, Prioritization, Execution and Enablement for Tools and Process

  • Planning - Facilitation of the ROB for Semester Planning between MCAPS, Engineering, CMO and Finance, developing long term roadmaps that align to MCAPS and our partners strategies

  • Business Operations Support – Leading the teams that provide operations support for platforms experiences

Responsibilities

Qualifications

Effective cross-team collaboration is essential to align multiple stakeholder teams to a common vision. More specifically, the candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in Strategy, Sales, Delivery, or Operations in an enterprise level company.

  • Strong people management experience leading large teams and driving impact by scaling through others.

  • Experience in engaging with senior stakeholders; strong networking and influencing skills, including the ability to lead and influence extended teams with and without formal reporting-line authority.

  • Deep understanding of Sales, Customer Success Unit (CSU), Small, Medium & Corp (SMC), Partner and Enterprise Support businesses and customer needs, and the methods by which to gather research and intuition on articulated and unarticulated needs.

  • Ability to work seamlessly across groups – Partners, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Senior Executivesas well asacross international teamsto build a unified and coordinated One Microsoft strategy.

  • Must be skilled at inspiring others and building on their ideas to arrive at business outcomesand results.

  • Growth mindset that can envision the future of how our business and technology will evolve–andhow we can run Microsoft on Microsoft technologies.

  • Strong track record of building strategy and developing sound project plans to deliver on business objectives.

  • Effective analytical skills to synthesize complex data sets into easy to consume and actionable business insights.

Location/Travel: You may be based anywhere in the United States. Depending on working hours, work from home arrangements are available. Routine travel and international travel in support of projects and organizational alignment will be occasional (approximately 10-25%), contingent upon Covid 19 travel restrictions.

Work Hours: This opportunity requires collaboration with worldwide stakeholders. Working on flexible business hours to connect with global stakeholders will be required to perform duties as outlined. Schedules will be flexible to support work-life balance and specific project/program needs.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $171,600 and $258,200.

At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
