Biogen Sr Associate Scientist / Scientist I, Oligonucleotide Synthesis Development in Cambridge, Massachusetts

About This Role * We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our Oligonucleotide Chemical Development team. This position provides an exciting opportunity to develop robust processes for the synthesis of oligonucleotides and to gain hands-on experience and exposure to the design and development of manufacturing processes for clinical and commercial therapeutics. We are looking for someone who is passionate for exploring novel scientific ideas and play a key role in developing new cutting-edge technologies with a vision to push Biogen’s state-of-art science in oligonucleotide synthesis that can ultimately impact patient lives. *What You’ll Do * * Oligonucleotide synthesis process development, characterization, and scale-up to support development and production of drug candidates. * Explore novel ideas to improve the oligonucleotide synthesis process for superior consistency or productivity. * Developing synthesis processes of non-platform oligonucleotides. * Design, perform and record experiment procedures and data, interpret data, write development reports, and lead pilot scale activitie. * Contribute to tech transfer activities, provide on-the-manufacturing floor support, author CMC section of INDs, and act as a subject matter expert on synthesis to facilitate interactions within the oligonucleotide organization. * * *Who You Are * /You love process development and are passionate about using organic synthesis to drive key business decisions. You love learning new technological skills and working through collaboration./ *Education Sr. Associate Scientist: * M.S. with 2+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or biotech settings. * BS with 4+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or biotech settings Scientist I: * Ph.D. with 0-3 years of relevant postdoc experience. * M.S. with 4+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or biotech settings. * BS with 6+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or biotech settings. Required Skills * * Areas of specialization reside in the fields of synthetic organic chemistry with excellent synthetic skills and a deep understanding of reactivity and reaction mechanisms. * Experience in API synthesis process development is preferred, but not required. * Must have the abilities to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment and effectively communicate in written and oral forms. * The individual must be self-driven, an independent thinker, vigorous and thorough in conducting experiments, collecting and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations. * Experience in nucleoside chemistry or oligonucleotide synthesis is preferred, but not required. * Beyond graduate work in synthetic organic chemistry: * * *Preferred Skills * Experience of using AKTA oligo synthesizer Our mission to find therapies for neurological and rare diseases is a unique focus within our industry and this shared purpose is what connects us as a team.
