Draper is seeking a multi-disciplinary engineer to design, develop, and deliver hardware for state-of-the-art sensor systems. This technical role is a terrific opportunity for applicants that are familiar with electronic circuits, programming, and signal processing and analysis. Key responsibilities span the research and development of physical sensor systems, including the design and fabrication of complex sensor electronics, execution of sensor system testing with programmable laboratory instrumentation, and integration of sensors and electronics into a functional, deployable system. Additional responsibilities may include embedded microprocessor programming and FPGA development. The candidate must be able to communicate clearly, manage concurrent development tasks, as well as contribute their technical knowledge to proposals and whitepapers that solve critical problems of national importance.

  • At least a B.S. in electrical engineering or a related field is required

  • Able to analyze and simulate mixed-signal circuits and systems using tools such as LTspice/MATLAB and capture designs in a CAD package (Altium, Mentor Graphics, Visio, etc.)

  • Experience programming in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++, using APIs, and writing re-usable code to measure, analyze and process sensor data

  • Comfortable configuring scientific and engineering laboratory equipment

  • Can figure out how to integrate disparate electrical interfaces and mechanical assemblies

  • Familiar with (or willing to use) project management tools/concepts (Kanban, Trello, etc.)

  • Capable of managing and communicating complex assembly and fabrication requirements with internal groups and external vendors
