SENIOR TRAINING MANAGER, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) Global-Research, Education, and Training (RET), to focus on J-PAL’s course portfolio and capacity building work as part part of J-PAL Global’s RET team. J-PAL’s training group introduces policymakers to impact evaluation methods, builds data analysis and field research skills of evaluation specialists/researchers/research staff, and disseminates policy insights generated by affiliate researchers through case studies and evidence-to-policy workshops. Will take a strategic leadership role in overseeing J-PAL’s worldwide training portfolio and advising the work of J-PAL’s worldwide offices on trainings. Responsibilities include leading efforts to train researchers/research staff/policymakers; overseeing the work of training staff members; building strategy for the design, organization, and implementation of in-person courses for policy partners; representing J-PAL in interactions with high-level policymakers; and working closely with regional offices and partner organizations.
REQUIRED: six-plus years’ relevant experience that includes quantitative data analysis and a master’s degree (in economics, political science, education, public policy, international development, or related field) or at least two years’ experience and a Ph.D. (including teaching and research experience during graduate school); comfort making presentations and preparing tailored teaching materials; experience in academic and non-academic teaching environments and/or in conducting field research in developing countries, with a background in randomized evaluations; interest in poverty alleviation policy and research as demonstrated by coursework and work experience; knowledge of data management, data analysis, and econometrics; PowerPoint and Excel proficiency; and good command of Stata (or willingness to quickly learn) or knowledge of R, Python, or other analytics programs. Experience in management and collaborating with international teams a plus. International development experience or extensive experience with social policy in other settings desired.
