The Microsoft Research AI Frontiers group is doing foundational research, pursuing ambitious disruptions, and creating technological and societal impact. Our research spans multiple areas in Machine Learning such as foundational model training and fine-tuning, agent platform and evaluation.
We’re looking to add a new Senior Technical Program Manager to our group who would partner closely with researchers and engineers in the agentic space to create a strategy and roadmap for our most ambitious endeavors and drive the execution of one the most successful agentic frameworks in Open Source AutoGen (https://microsoft.github.io/autogen/dev/) . To be successful, we need people who are versed in Machine Learning, creative, comfortable with navigating ambiguity, and are deeply collaborative. Responsibilities
Partner with ML researchers and engineers to create clarity, identify the highest value opportunities, and drive execution of our agentic research.
Drive and grow our Open-Source Agentic ecosystem to create impact through our ambitious projects.
Manage ambiguity and define scale-out options that are well understood and executed across the team and our partners.
Drive successful agentic project results by contributing to definition of goals, success metrics and prioritization of deliverables.
Partner effectively with compliance, communications, finance, and strategy colleagues to build advocacy, business case and champion research projects.
Contribute to the continued development of the product management team and research program.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in computer science or engineering AND 4+ years experience in product/technical program management, or product development
OR equivalent experience.
2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects and delivering highly effective and collaborative products in a fast-paced, dynamic, and demanding environment (like research in GenAI).
2+ years experience managing programs/products in the Machine Learning area.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree preferred or 8+ years equivalent experience.
Experience managing open-source projects.
Experience in building and growing an open-source community and evangelizing open-source projects.
2+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
6+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Ability to rapidly learn new technologies and concepts.
Uphold the organizational culture of acting with integrity and trustworthiness when leading partnerships within and outside of our team.
Ability to handle critical situations with confidence, directing the team towards effective response.
Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply learning to improve business outcomes, positive impact for the team and self.
Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
