Perform skilled laboratory work under the limited supervision of senior technical personnel (exempt and nonexempt). With limited supervision, performs cleaning, maintenance, and/or calibration of laboratory facilities and equipment requiring highly skilled and specialized knowledge. With adequate training and limited supervision, performs work of an essentially repetitive nature requiring highly specialized skills for production of deliverable hardware. Such work shall involve extremely complex manual tasks requiring high-degrees of manual dexterity and attention to detail and operation of complex automated or semi-automated equipment requiring highly evolved production skills. With limited or no supervision, carefully documents their own work consistent with work unit policy in hand written form or using common computer-based software such as MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, etc. Performs scientific experiments and/or tests with complex laboratory equipment under the limited supervision of senior technical personnel (exempt and nonexempt). Applies analytic and test experience in execution of acceptance procedures under the limited supervision of senior technical personnel (exempt and nonexempt). Programs computer controlled automated and semi-automated equipment. At the discretion of the supervisor, performs focused training to enable progression into higher skilled positions. As needed, mentor, train or supervises more junior technicians. Other temporary assignments at the discretion of the supervisor.
This position requires a good working knowledge of several key areas of metrology including DC/Low Frequency, RF/Microwave, Time and Frequency. You will have experience calibrating, troubleshooting, aligning and repairing the following types of Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment: RF Analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, counters, GPS receivers/simulators, and other types of test equipment and standards.
Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (M&TE) in one or more of the following disciplines –DC/Low Frequency, RF/Microwave, and Time & Frequency, in order to ensure compliance with published specifications.
Perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of precision equipment.
Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during calibration.
Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective action via adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, etc.
Military (i.e. PMEL) or other applicable training with a minimum of 5 years current and verifiable experience in the metrology field
Outstanding customer skills and attention to detail
Practical experience with various standards including; NAVAIR 17-35TR (Requirements for Preparation of Instrument Calibration Procedures), and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994 (Calibration Laboratories & M&TE General Requirements)
Experience with Quality systems such as ISO 17025 - Competency of Calibration Laboratories and uncertainty calculations is a plus
Familiarity with the MetCal/MetTrack or METEAM suite
- Graduation from a two year technical school with at least five years of applicable experience. There is no years of applicable experience in lieu of education requirement.
