Job ID REQ-10024004 Senior Scientist, Comparative Medicine- (GEMs) Your Key Responsibilities: Key driver for enhancing efficiency within a highly active breeding program, in collaboration with a team of breeding coordinators in GEMs. Work closely with the Novartis research community to manage, optimize and prioritize breeding colonies of genetically modified rodent models intended for target validation and drug discovery. Collaborate closely with our Animal Engineering (AE) team to facilitate the integration of newly developed animal models into the breeding core, utilizing globally standardized software for oversight. Support the implementation of software initiatives within the global platform Strong oversight and support for breeding colonies at external CROs. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all institutional and regulatory protocols, policies, and guidelines. Conduct presentations of data and results at local and global meetings as needed. Perform supplemental tasks in assisting the Manager and other delegated programmatic oversight duties as specified. Role Requirements: MS or BS degree in Biology, Animal/Veterinary Science or related field Strong knowledge of Transgenic models/Genetics 5+ years of experience, preferably working in an animal research environment. Level of the position will be commensurate with experience. ALAT certification preferred or pursued after start Advanced understanding of genetically engineered rodent models with a focus on breeding colony management Experience operating within a barrier-maintained facility carrying out in vivo studies utilizing micro-isolator techniques Detail oriented with knowledge of the IACUC/AWC compliance and regulations Working knowledge of federal, state, local animal welfare laws, departmental SOP?s and Good Laboratory Practices Able to lift 50 lbs., and work from standing position for prolonged time periods. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather. Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between \$97,600- \$146,400/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
