SENIOR PLANNER, Campus Planning, to provide professional direction for the Institute’s project development and planning activities, complete planning analysis, and produce project development materials. Responsibilities include leading major internal and/or external planning efforts that require the development of new concepts and techniques; building relationships within the MIT community and with external organizations; conducting space utilization studies; performing test fits and completing feasibility studies including building, accessibility, and zoning code analysis; and preparing site plans and urban design studies and conducting architectural design and site plan review. Will be expected to maintain current knowledge of government-mandated planning requirements and develop plans and programs to meet these requirements.
REQUIRED: a four-year college degree (master’s in architecture or planning preferred); at least seven years’ practice experience in architectural planning or urban design; senior-level experience in a public or higher education setting or experience in a senior associate level position; and strong interpersonal skills. Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively to frame scope of work, refine projects as needed, and resolve disagreements and reach decisions to the satisfaction of diverse stakeholders is critical. Design and graphic skills, proficiency with AutoCAD and related design packages, and experience with three-dimensional modeling and GIS desirable. Job #16655-Q10/11/18
