The GNC System Architecture group at Draper is seeking a Senior GNC System Architect to architect next-generation guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems for mission domains including: strategic deterrent systems, missile defense systems, hypersonic missiles, space systems, precision guided munitions, and autonomous air/sea vehicles.

Responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Analysis of customer mission needs and development of use cases

  • System requirement definition and development

  • System concept/architecture development

  • Planning for architecture/design maturation and development

  • Design and development of enabling GNC technology and technology roadmaps

  • Development of systems engineering/design artifacts and documentation

  • Presentation of design/results to both internal and external stake-holders

A successful candidate will be motivated to build deeper expertise in both the core mission domain and underlying GNC technology. Working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team environment to innovate new GNC system solutions will provide exposure to a wide range of advanced technologies (including inertial sensors, imagers, precision electronics, and advanced algorithms) as well as afford opportunities for increased leadership and impact on the development of new war-fighter capability.

Required qualifications:

  • An M.S. or higher in a relevant engineering/physics discipline;

  • 5+ years of professional experience in development of defense/space avionics;

  • Experience with systems engineering for integrated hardware/software systems;

  • Experience in modeling of dynamical systems and simulation-based performance analysis

  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex technical ideas

Any of the following additional qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Proficiency in Systems Modeling Language (SysML)

  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBE) frameworks and tools

  • Programming experience in C, C++, MATLAB, and Simulink
