About This Role * Biogen is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Scientist I/Scientist II position within its Analytical Development (AD) department in Cambridge, MA. This position is within the Gene Therapy Chemistry group and will work collaboratively in cross-functional teams on a range of programs from drug portfolio and next generation technology development initiatives. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative environment to utilize skills in partnership with internal and external experts. *What You’ll Do * * Develop and qualify LC-MS based analytical methods to support process development and in-depth characterization of gene therapy therapeutics, from analysis of AAV capsid post-translational modifications (PTMs, glycosylation) to genome of interest and transfer those methods to internal and external stakeholders, as applicable * Develop and implement approaches based on mass spectrometry and separation techniques (HPLC, CE) for quantitation of process related impurities from gene therapy manufacturing * Represent analytical development gene therapy chemistry as subject matter expert both internally and externally; develop analytical strategies and provide guidance to collaborators * Contribute to and lead the preparation of internal reports, posters, presentations, technical proposals, scientific publications and regulatory filings. * Advance novel technologies, while working in a highly interdisciplinary team-based environment *Who You Are * You love analytics and are passionate about using data to drive key business decisions. You will provide expertise in the field of in-depth protein analysis as it pertains to AAV capsid characterization and other gene therapy related work with possibility to support other modalities, as opportunities arise. *Required Skills * *Scientist I: * Ph.D. degree in Analytical chemistry, BioChemistry or related discipline * MS degree in Analytical Chemistry, BioChemistry or related discipline with 4+ years of experience * Direct expertise in the analytical characterization for biologics and/or viral glycoproteins using peptide mapping, intact protein analysis, including post-translational modification analysis, and/or glycosylation elucidation. * In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in different types of analytical separation techniques and data processing analyses with focus on mass spectrometry applications. Scientist II: * Ph.D. Analytical Chemistry, BioChemistry or related discipline with 2+ years experience * MS degree Analytical Chemistry, BioChemistry or related discipline with 6+ years of experience * The ability to serve as a team member/leader in an environment where individual initiative, collaboration and accountability are valued. * Direct expertise in the analytical characterization for biologics and/or viral glycoproteins using peptide mapping, intact protein analysis, including post-translational modification analysis, and/or glycosylation elucidation. * In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in different types of analytical separation techniques and data processing analyses with focus on mass spectrometry applications.
