Job Summary: We are building a trusted platform that connects researchers with leaders in their fields to help them publish in a way that advances science: fast, transparent and impactful.
The Principal Product Manager will own multiple critical products/features on the platform covering the end-to-end publishing workflow. He/she will be responsible for delivering customers/user value using qualitative and quantitative customer understanding and a strong technology relationship.
In addition, he/she will actively mentor and support managers of product managers in interviewing and recruiting product mangers for the organization, and informally lead cross-functional team members instilling a focus on the delivery of successful products.
Interacts frequently with authors, reviewers and editors regularly, and thoroughly understand their use cases and goals.
Leverages analytics and other insights to better understand the outcome sought.
Understands in depth competitive products and strategy, and how they influence the author and other customer decisions.
Data-Driven Decision-Making & Analysis
Drives the formulation of overall research/testing strategy and ensure product decisions are based on data.
Evaluates the balance between quantitative and qualitative data needed for decision making.
Is skilled in breaking down large complex issues into simpler elements that can be effectively addressed.
Product Management Life-cycle
Develops clear launch plans through coordinated development with key stakeholders and customer-facing teams such as Publishers, Journal Managers and Support.
Articulates product messaging and the value propositions by persona in collaboration with the communication and customer collateral leads.
Evangelizes product for customers and customer-facing teams.
Product Delivery & Development
Collaborate with UX, Squad Lead and squad to define user experience and target impact.
Has a thorough understanding of the role of the Product Manager (aka Product Owner) and other functions in the agile squads; is able to explain this to new team members and stakeholders

Consults with stakeholders and defines the requirements (the what), explaining the customer and business context clearly (the why), across multiple complex and cross-functional feature areas.
Is a thought leader and innovator for his/her product incorporate emerging technologies.
Works with the cross-functional development squad, using the common operating model (Agile) to define, document and implement new features.
Drives product strategy and roadmap to deliver business impact.
Partners with others to consult on product-related business issues.
Leads development of business cases for investment.
Learns about new technologies to support new product development efforts.
Is comfortable analyzing data using existing software packages (e.g. Excel) as required.
