OPERATIONS AND RENTAL EVENTS MANAGER, Open Space Programming ( , to ensure smooth, efficient day-to-day operations for the MIT Welcome Center ( . Will work closely with MIT Admissions in coordinating staffing for the Welcome Center desk; manage two full-time staff members; recruit, hire, and schedule part-time student staff; establish training for staff that ensures knowledge-building across a wide range of topics; coordinate with colleagues on operational and logistical projects; address facility, custodial, or systems issues; continually iterate and experiment on ways to improve processes and the visitor experience; manage the rentals program, including a 220 seat auditorium and the outdoor Kendall/MIT Open Space, which includes a stage and outdoor movie area; respond to inquiries about using Welcome Center space, manage scheduling, ensure all goes smoothly, process paperwork/payments, promote the space to potential clients; and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; two years’ related experience; excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and verbal communication skills; experience working with the public, managing a team, setting work schedules, and mentoring staff; support for inclusive practices and meaningful community engagement; detail-orientation; flexible approach to change, reprioritization, and/or shifts in focus/goals; interest in and good judgment and tact when engaging with the public and working with public programs; and ability to lift weights of up to 25 lbs. Seek a proactive, self-accountable team player who is able to assume responsibility and work with minimal supervision; take extra steps to meet others’ needs; prioritize, follow through on multiple tasks, and meet deadlines; and work effectively in a fast-paced environment and in difficult situations. PREFERRED: STEAM education and/or public programs experience, and familiarity with MIT and/or Cambridge.
