Sanofi Group MLOps Engineer Lead I in Cambridge, Massachusetts
Sanofi Data Science CoE is seeking an MLOps Engineer Lead towho has the ability to deeply understand the larger data ecosystem system from model requirements to business needs. You will focus on designing tools and capabilities that help the team deploy more models to production. You’re able to connect what you’re building to the downstream impact of how it will improve the product. The MLOps Engineer Lead will also have responsibilities in modelling complex business problems and aid in the discovery of business insights through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques.
Work with teams to design and build cloud hosted, automated pipelines that run, monitor, and retrain ML Models for business applications in an agile manner
Have a strategic perspective of how several machine learning solutions come together against a team, technical product strategy, and lead to an optimal sequence of work
Enhance and improve the code deployment and model monitoring frameworks and project operations documentation
Support life cycle management of deployed ML apps life cycle management (e.g. new releases, change management, monitoring and troubleshooting)
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience driving teams forward and the ability to influence technical decisions to line up with the company’s strategy
Work as subject matter expert for app user base (e.g. maintain user guides, release notes, FAQs)
Build processes supporting app monitoring, troubleshooting, life cycle management and customer support
Mentor and coach data scientists, engineers and developers, helping them grow both their technical and non-technical skill

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES / LANGUAGE:
Work all over the full stack is a must have, moving fluidly between programming languages and technologies: Python, PySpark, R, MLFlow, AWS Lambda, Kibana, AWS S3, Gitlab and API, postgres databases, SQL, RShiny, Python DASH, Airflow, Jenkins, Kubernetes, DataBricks
Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, query authoring (SQL) and designing variety of databases (e.g. Postgres SQL)
Create and develop in CI/CD Pipelines which allow for controlled and continuous enhancement of existing work and new features during both development and production phases
Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in an agile environment
Experience in agile product development
Experience in the operationalization of Data Science projects (MLOps) using AWS
Good understanding of ML and AI concepts and hands-on experience in ML model development
Good understanding of UX design
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and in writing
Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field with 5+ years ML engineering or engineering support for Data Science experience in an industrial / commercial setting (global organization, life sciences & healthcare a plus), or a PhD and 3+ years of similar experience
AI/ML development designing CI/CD Pipelines, deploying models to production and managing them
Building and optimizing "big data" pipelines, architectures and data sets
AI/Working in cloud and high-performance computational environments (AWS, Databricks preferred)
Operations of AI/ML modeling of complex datasets, Development experience desired
Experience specifying infrastructure to be built using tools such as Terraform or Jenkins
Performing alongside with Business units in Data Driven Projects
This role will be situated and aligned with the Data Science Lead function and role.
