The Strategic Weapon Systems group at Draper is seeking a Missile GNC Analyst/System Engineer to work within multi-disciplinary teams to design and assess next-generation weapon system concepts for the war fighter. This role will be of high interest to applicants that desire to participate in the conceptualization and development of new US military capabilities in strategic mission domains, as well as the enabling guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) subsystem technology. Relevant mission domains may include: global strike and/or strategic deterrent systems, missile defense systems, space systems, precision guided munitions, and autonomous air/sea vehicles.
A successful candidate will be motivated to build deeper expertise in both the core mission domain and underlying GNC/avionics technology. Working in a dynamic team environment developing state-of-the-art weapon/GN&C systems will provide exposure to a wide range of advanced technologies (including inertial sensors, imagers, precision electronics, and advanced algorithms) as well as afford opportunities for increased leadership/impact on the development of new war-fighter capability.
An M.S. degree or higher in engineering, mathematics, or physics;
1+ years of professional experience in development of defense/space avionics;
Foundational knowledge and/or practical experience with guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) technology;
Familiarity and/or proficiency in systems engineering practices for integrated hardware/software systems;
Practical experience with modeling of dynamical systems and simulation-based performance analysis;
Strong presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex technical ideas.
Domain experience with respect to strategic weapon systems;
Experience with multi-objective optimization techniques;
Familiarity with System Modeling Language (SysML);
Security Requirement: Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. This security clearance requires proof of US citizenship.
