  • Proven ability to manage projects or operations including office or facility management. Strong capabilities in managing multiple projects, anticipating future requirements, building execution plans and timetables, and delivering to deadlines in close coordination with other members of the team, University or ALI community.

  • Energetic problem-solver with ability to anticipate and plan for programmatic needs, develop and initiate solutions, and assert policies or boundaries where necessary.

  • Ability to be a self-starter and to work successfully and flexibly in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting.

  • Collaborative team player skilled at developing and stewarding working relationships with the ALI community and relevant Harvard University departments

  • Committed to and passionate about ALI’s mission for advancing social impact leadership.

  • Familiarity with Harvard University financial management systems and processes strongly preferred.

  • Familiar with nonprofit or academic funding models, including solicitation, receipt and management of donations and dedicated funds

  • Experience working or volunteering with social impact initiatives a plus

Additional Information:Harvard University’s Advanced Leadership Initiative (ALI) is an inter-disciplinary educational program that aims to unleash the potential of experienced leaders to help solve society’s most pressing challenges. Through its unique year-long fellowship program, ALI engages a diverse array of senior leaders working to address health, education, environmental sustainability, human rights, economic inclusion, racial justice, gender equality, and other societal challenges. Established in 2007 as a Harvard Interfaculty Initiative, ALI pioneered a new model for a “third stage” of higher education and is now engaging its 12th cohort of Advanced Leadership Fellows. ALI is entering its second decade with ambitious goals for expanding its impact in enabling social impact leadership. ALI is led by a Faculty Chair, with guidance from an inter-disciplinary Faculty Board and oversight by the Provost. It is managed by a team of staff based in the program’s offices in Harvard Square, with administrative operations anchored in the Harvard Business School.   • Budgeting: Prepares all quarterly and annual budget forecasts for all departments within ALI for submission to HBS Finance. Forecasts revenues and expenditures for each department in consultation with department/area heads;

  • Monitoring: Continuously tracks expenditures and adjusts quarterly forecasts as needed. Meets regularly with area heads (Program, Communications, etc.) to review budget figures, discuss current spending, and ensure that targets are being met. Prepares journal entries for review/approval, both interdepartmental and intradepartmental. Reviews accounts and coding for reasonableness and accuracy, and initiates remedial measures as needed.

  • Revenue and Payment processing: Invoices, tracks and processes incoming payments; and manages payments and disbursements; to ensure timely and accurate disbursement and receipt of funds. Prepares all faculty payment forms for signature and tracks all faculty payments, ensuring alignment with ALI policies. Provides correct coding and soft “behind the scenes” approval for all financial transactions, including vendor and instructor invoices, reimbursements, and Purchase card payments, and maintains financial files.

  • Contracting: Manages selection and contracting process for ALI vendors, in coordination with HBS Finance policies.


  • Office / facility Management: Oversee management of ALI staff offices and Fellows’ study/event space, serving as chief liaison with building management and relevant Harvard offices. Maintain and order office supplies, kitchen supplies, and office/event materials, as well as IT and AV equipment. Manage ordering of ALI-branded materials. Maintain organized and streamlined office, study and storage space.

  • SalesForce Administration: Serve as CRM (Salesforce) administrator for the department. Manages page layouts, field mapping, reports, and user permissions, among other duties. Proactively seeks ways to improve both CRM and internal business processes to help achieve organizational goals. Acts as primary point of contact for internal and external CRM consultants, vendors, and personnel.

  • Housing support to Fellows: Serve as main point of contact related to housing for ALI Fellows including answering inquiries; providing information and referrals; and managing ALI housing support payments for select scholarship recipients.


  • Performs other duties as may be required by situational team needs.
