Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities
Performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks that require a license in plumbing at the journeyman skill level.
Understands mechanical, electrical, plumbing and architectural plans.
Inspects equipment and facilities for proper operation and working condition, maintains routine records, and determines type and extent of malfunction of equipment. As necessary, adjusts, disassembles and repairs or replaces parts or components, reassembles, and tests for proper operation. Reports more serious problems to the supervisor for instructions or maintenance scheduling.
Performs a variety of general semiskilled-to skilled maintenance, alteration, and repairs to equipment of facilities as assigned or in accordance to basic skills and abilities and standard procedures, diagrams, or manufacturer’s instructions.
Trains other employees to carry out tasks beyond the present scope of their abilities.
Carries out work orders assigned by the Maintenance/Boiler Room Manager in a timely and efficient manner.
Performs all work in accordance with applicable codes and regulations and ensures that those assigned to assist do likewise.
Leaves work area in clean orderly and safe condition.
Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
Responds to hospital emergencies and recalls as needed.
Checks assigned areas on daily basis and reports or corrects all deficiencies.
Performs snow removal duties as required.
Performs other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma.
Trade license.
Five years of experience.
Ability to understand HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and architectural drawings.
Social/Environmental Requirements
Exposure to various environmental conditions including noise, heat, dust, odors and inclement weather.
Occasionally will be required to bend and lift items weighing up to 75 pound
