Kforce has a client that is seeking a Journal Associate in Cambridge, Massachusetts (MA). Our client is seeking an enthusiastic, technically savvy, and extremely organized person to provide administrative support to the Editors, Authors, and Reviewers of its prestigious scientific journals. Overview:This entry-level position is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in publishing, adapts well to change, puts the customer first, works well in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, and desires to actively collaborate within a team setting. This person will be responsible for journal inbox, assistant Editorial and journal team, answering authoring inquiries, passing new submissions, working with reviewers. There will be a training period. Tolls - Outlook, Communication skills, Excel. This position does not involve writing. Background in English, Editorial Assistant is recommended. If they are interested in the Publishing industry this is a great opportunity. The Manager is open to entry- level candidates who are computer savvy and professional. Work hours 9 AM -5 PM.Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to the company's users

  • Coordinating the flow of new and revised manuscripts from submission through publication

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for and frequently communicating with scientific editors, authors, and editorial referees

  • Producing reports to enable editors to manage the review and decision processes effectively

  • A degree in English / Journalism or life science is preferred

  • 1-2 years of related administrative experience is a plus

  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop is desirable, as is a basic understanding of HTML

  • Our ideal candidate pays close attention to detail, has exceptional English language skills, and possesses polished and hospitable written and oral communication skills

  • The successful candidate will be able to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, treat people professionally, and work equally well as a member of the administrative team or independently in a deadline-oriented environment

  • Applicant must be PC proficient with expertise working in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Outlook and Excel)

  • Journal Associates are not expected to have a scientific background, although scientific literacy can be helpful
