Overview

General Scope and Summary

SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, integrative thinker for an important role that is responsible for managing in vitro pharmacology studies across Discovery and Development programs, applying knowledge of advanced principles, theories, and concepts in areas of expertise.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plans and ensures execution of laboratory research, with general guidance; investigates, selects, and/or develops new methods and technologies for project advancement; monitors work-flows to enable execution of studies

  • Design and interpret in vitro pharmacology studies to evaluate the activities of small molecule drug candidates, investigate their mechanisms of action, and explore novel therapeutic hypotheses

  • Manage and provide operational support for a global network of in vitro pharmacology research CROs as well as external academic collaborations to provide critical pharmacology data to matrixed project teams

  • Keep track of study progress, functional budgets and manage the organization and loading of data and study reports

  • Prepare, review and deliver scientific presentations for internal/external use

  • Maintains knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, and applies this knowledge to the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments

  • Contributes to the preparation of lucid scientific reports for projects teams; writes and reviews SOPs, contributes to scientific literature, conferences and publications

  • Mine the scientific literature to provide evidence and support relating to indication diligence and other scientific concepts

  • Uses scientific knowledge and Sage’s policies and procedures to solve problems

  • Plans own activities and weekly schedule with guidance in accordance with objectives and priorities

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Biomedical Science or a scientific discipline with 0 - 3 years of relevant experience; or MS/MA with at least 5+ years of relevant experience; or BS/BA with at least 8+ years of relevant experience. A proven track record in progressing drug targets from validation to early clinical development is an asset

  • Experience with conducting in vitro model systems and evaluating pharmacological interventions in a drug discovery environment

  • Knowledge and familiarity with electrophysiology, high content imaging and biochemical assays would be preferred

  • Possess a strong attention to detail, be highly organized and have exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

  • Experience using a range of data informatics tools would be highly desired. For example, IDBS Eworkbook, Dotmatics, Pipeline pilot etc.

  • Experience with identification and management of external vendors to execute research strategies is highly desired

  • Ability and willingness to work effectively in a highly collaborative, matrixed research environment
