Sanofi Group Head, Commercial Insights in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Global Head of Commercial Insights is responsible for overseeing the execution of all Market Insights, Forecasting, Analytics for all Franchises within Specialty Care. He will also manage shared activities for Sanofi in the realms of resource allocation (analytics COE), analytics (brand analytics team and salesforce analytics team). This role will work in partnership with all Global Specialty Care Franchises, relevant business operations and supports functions to support the key initiatives and programs of the brand plans and identifying opportunities for enhancing portfolio performance as well as relevant teams within Sanofi.

The role will ensure a high level of service, appropriate resourcing and prioritization of deliverables in the realms of analytics, market research, forecasting, competitive intelligence, for Sanofi Genzyme and the broader Sanofi organization. The role will notably play a critical role in leveraging tools that are getting developed in business operations (MCE, CRM, launch excellence etc.)

Reporting into the Head of Operation and Access, he/she will align with the therapeutic area dedicated resources to the brand roadmap and work directly with Business Operations management to ensure deliverables are achieved as well as other GBUs. The ideal candidate must engage and influence without authority in the functionally organization Business Operations team beyond market insights (notably marketing excellence, launch support, etc.)

It is also expected that the role will role in close collaboration with the market access function especially for exercises relative to forecasting and planning.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Setting goals for the projects, developing organizations and governance to deliver on those goals and modelling how we work together across the organization

  • Influences multiple and varied stakeholders at various levels across the organization to align with the business objectives and plan

  • Supports the implementation of company programs, and drives the execution of business unit strategy, structure and operations, processes and programs to achieve business objectives

  • Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on key messages and communications strategies. Counsels senior management on specific tactics and timelines for implementation

  • Prepares long-term plans for improving efficiency and effectiveness of Sanofi customer relationships while maintaining a high-level of customer support for relevant customers ( GBU’s and Regions, etc.)

  • Acts as a change agent in helping teams identify areas of improvement and activating teams to move to the required cross-functional changes

  • Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership and teamwork to achieve business results

  • Identify, recruit, and develop a high performing team and next generation of business development leaders

  • Champion innovative ideas and solutions, shared learnings and continuous improvement within the team, organization and business partner

  • Manage the team (internal, external) responsible for the delivery of Specialty Care Commercial Insights deliverables (selection of relevant market data, industrialization of forecasting and analytics support, marketing mix modelling, salesforce performance measures)

  • Ensure flawless service delivery to all GBUs including quality of the output, time to service delivery

  • Play a key role in developing key capabilities, identify gaps and proposed strategy to build/acquire the missing pieces to deliver analytics to Sanofi

  • Build and develop a strong Commercial Insights team

  • Define the profile and recruit the people when vacant positions

  • Provide technical support to this team and adequate advice and support

  • Mobilize the collaborators around the department’s objectives

  • Create synergy, cross sharing of skills and team spirit within the group and promote synergy with the other members of the department team in order to optimize cohesion, engagement and performance of the team

  • Contribute to the development of their competencies and raise their analytical and business skill sets

  • Develop/support the influence capability of each of the collaborators. Assure adequate training programs. Work with them on career development

  • Be responsible for the proper execution of deliverables and services of the team by analyzing the productivity of existing tools and providing the investments to improve as necessary based on technology changes and appropriate discussions with CDO teams

  • Control the quality of deliverables

  • Clearly define roles and responsibilities, give clear directions and objectives to the team and assure that these objectives are met

  • Measure performance

  • Support the BO&S team in countries in their use of the analytics capabilities

  • Management of external partners

  • Keep constant dialogue with selected partners (IT and analytics provider) to ensure best resources from partners are dedicated to the Sanofi account

  • Regularly propose adjustments and remediation plans to fix arising performance issues for the partners

  • Keep connected with the external partners ecosystem to pro-actively propose new innovative solutions delivered by existing partners or new players (analytics start-up)

  • Manage key interactions with heads from GBUs and key countries to ensure delivery quality and buildup of new services to match emerging needs from GBUs

  • Sit in company transversal digital and analytics governance beyond commercial to ensure alignment of Commercial Insights team with company overall digital strategy

  • Contribute to the development of the Commercial Insights communities and encourage best practices exchanges

  • Community management, posting of information, community development, challenges and rewards, etc.

  • Build and manage yearly budget in accordance to the define operating model of the Sanofi Commercial Insights team

  • Ensure triage and prioritization of Sanofi Genzyme GBU requests are done in accordance to pre-defined operating mechanism

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience leading, coaching and developing teams

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience leading in a high growth environment with a demonstrated ability in leading large scale, cross-functional projects with significant financial impact and involving people from multiple levels

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in project planning, management and delivery including all elements of scope, time, cost, risk quality, integration, procurement, and communications

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience working across functional business units to develop effective business solutions that align with company and business unit objectives

  • Extraordinary ability to convey complex concepts in a manner that is understandable by all

  • Strong strategic marketing, analytical, problem-solving capabilities

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic and operational business planning, marketing and/or BO&S services in the healthcare or relevant industry

  • Experience in marketing, market analytical and forecasting ability

  • Proficient in latest innovation in the field of Big data, AI, Machine learning

  • Extraordinary ability to build relationships cross functionally with both internal and external teams

  • Ability to influence leaders in significant investment decisions and change management

  • Demonstrated leadership ability to drive change within an organization, cultivating support and maximizing contribution from team members
