The applicant will lead a team of highly motivated Engineers in the design and development of algorithms and software for navigation and sensor fusion application. This will include development for early prototypes through field tests and eventual operational deployment. We seek applicants who will fit well in this dynamic team while designing challenging and developing technologies crucial to the advancement of critical mission systems.
Draper is seeking an enthusiastic engineer to lead the Navigation and Sensor Fusion Group.
The Group Leader is the first-level of engineering management and will be a hands-on technical leader. The candidate will be a direct contributor to projects and business development activities. In this capacity, the selected candidate will collaborate with other staff members to develop and transition innovative technologies. In addition to these individual responsibilities, the managerial responsibilities include working with the Division Leader to: a) hire and support the career development, growth, and project assignments for the group’s staff; b) develop the group’s technical vision and capabilities; and c) assist in the oversight of project execution within the group.
In this role, the candidate will work on cutting-edge efforts for US Government and commercial customers as well as internal R&D projects. The ideal candidate is an assertive self-starter, engaging colleagues and building ideas in a team-centered environment.
MS/PHD in Engineering, Computer Science or similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
Experience in at least one of the following: navigation (IMUs, GPS, aiding sensors, and state estimation), image/signal processing, target tracking, and sensor/data fusion
Experience leading teams and contributing to proposal development
Solid programming experience (e.g., C/C++, Python, Matlab) and understanding of software development best practices
Good written and spoken communication skills
