  • Internal policy development and compliance skills preferred

  • Strong organizational skills, a proactive mindset, experience applying analytical thinking

  • Comfortable working in a newly launched and growing organization

Additional Information:This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA based campus 3 days per week. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager.

  • Lead and have responsibility for overall administrative and financial management of the D^3 and Implementation of business and financial projects across D^3

  • Assess, initiate, and implement improvements on current organizational financial, administrative and programmatic processes for greater efficiency and synergies

  • Draft, review, and edit various financial, administrative, and programmatic documents, reports and web content across as needed

  • Co-lead the core operations team, maintain meeting notes, and keep current on activities within D^3

  • Work closely with the Sr. MD to implement policies, goals, and initiatives related to budgets, personnel, programs, and administration

  • Navigate and effectively use internal software and databases (PeopleSoft, Concur, etc.)

  • Oversee all internal administrative, personnel matters, and academic appointments, and make projections for administrative and hiring needs

  • Manage HR functions and recruitment for any open staff positions from requisition/posting to on-boarding internally and handle personnel issues

  • Oversee general D^3 administrative functions including office space, calendar, meetings and events


  • • Handle financial transactions (payments, reimbursements, etc.), prepare complex financial analysis, and make projections for financial needs

  • • Assist in developing capacity for grants management in collaboration with DRFD and HBS Financial • Manage staff effort allocations across costing strings and manage all costing


  • Coordinate the administrative management of D^3 programs (timelines, deadlines, reports, etc.) Promote operational efficiency, compliance, and transparency in the management of projects and activities, and ensure that every project is delivered with high quality standards and in a compliant manner

  • Monitor overall program performance, including participating in the performance evaluations of program staff

The successful candidate will work well both independently and within a team, and display excellent communication skills when corresponding with a range of external and internal stakeholders to further the mission of the D^3. They will also have a heightened sense of responsibility and ownership, understand when to elevate/escalate a priority, and apply critical thinking on resolutions to issues related to finance and administration.

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Operations and Business Manager to oversee all administrative functions. Reporting to the Managing Director, working closely with all D^3 faculty, staff, and collaborators. This includes the respective administrative and finance teams at HBS, and within the Division for Research and Faculty Development (DRFD).
