Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Associates in Mechanical Technology or Bachelors in Engineering strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of building systems including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Life Safety.

  • Ability to read and understand HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection plans and specifications

  • Ability to use information from the BAS and other tools to diagnose potential mechanical issues

  • Strong Ability in Multi-tasking, time management and prioritization.

  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to resolve complex problems.

  • Ability to work effectively with team members.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills

Department:Campus Planning and FacilitiesPre-Employment Screening:Criminal, Education, IdentityJob Function:Technical Position Description:Reporting to the Facilities Engineering Manager, the Facilities Engineer will provide technical support to campus MEP systems. The role will support the maintenance team assisting with troubleshooting and repair of complex systems. Provides specialty consultant oversight and assists with turnover/commissioning of MEP projects. This position requires a great deal of interaction with internal stakeholders as every person within the Facilities team plays a vital role in the successful operation of HMS Campus.

The main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to.

  • Investigate and analyze failures in building mechanical systems to identify Root Causes. Provide recommendations for repairs and system upgrades to prevent future failures

  • Evaluate building MEP systems and provide recommendations to strengthen system reliability and energy efficiency

  • Analyze potential risks related to critical building systems and infrastructure. Develop and propose risk mitigation strategies to internal stakeholders.

  • Develop and implement MEP test plans and SOP's for internal stakeholders

  • Participate in turnover and commissioning of new mechanical systems in partnership with the Controls/Applications Engineer

  • Evaluate and recommend alternate obsolete parts, recommend listing of critical spare parts.

  • Support consultants with reliability assessments including data collection and failure mode analysis

  • Provide technical support during planned and unplanned utility system outages and shutdowns.

  • Support day to day operations with resolution to stakeholders’ questions, inquiries and concerns, code interpretation and engineering solutions

  • Other duties assigned.
