Engineering Manager (Akamai Technologies, Inc.; Cambridge, Massachusetts): The Engineering Manager will act as a leader and help with software architecture, product execution plans, and developing our road-map. The individual will be expected to lead in a fluid, fast-paced environment while also communicating and collaborating effectively with internal/external customers and will work very closely with stakeholders to ensure that we incorporate customer input into our product. Specific responsibilities include: providing hands on leadership for a team of extremely talented senior engineers who design and develop Security products that power the core of the Web Security Business; architecture and technical ownership of the current and next generation of Security Products; ensuring the best of engineering and documentation practices are followed; working closely with management to define priorities, direction, and timelines; communicating clearly and honestly with stakeholders about progress, roadblocks, and timelines; recruiting, mentoring, and leading a team of talented engineers; inspiring your team to work hard, leading by example and keeping enthusiasm high in tight-deadline situations; leading not by title but technical persuasion; and writing code. Limited domestic travel to other Akamai offices less than 5%.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field plus 6 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field plus 8 years of relevant experience.

MUST HAVE (total years of experience above must include the following; can be gained concurrently): 6 years of experience in Object oriented Programming; 6 years of experience in Web Application Development and related technologies; and 6 years of experience leading engineering and development teams or projects. Must also have the following (No specific number of years or amount of experience required, only demonstrated ability as stated below): proven solid knowledge of Distributed Systems and Databases; and proven solid understanding of software development life cycles, tools, and processes.
