The Contested Environment Test Solutions group is seeking a multi-talented Engineer for an opportunity which offers participation in cutting edge technologies for a variety of applications including space exploration, satellites, defense, and aviation.
This engineer will support and lead test programs for a variety of specimens ranging from electronics (ASICs, MEMs, fiber optics, etc.) to inertial navigation sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope), to higher level integrated systems for specialized and unique applications within contested environments, such as radiation or GPS-denied environments. These projects often involve heavy emphasis on high performance, low size, weight, and power (SWaP) consumption, with stringent quality and requirement processes.
Work efforts extend into designing experiments, performing circuit design/analysis, conducting tests, data processing and analysis, and technical report generation. Additional responsibilities encompass system integration, test planning, infrastructure development, and execution of plans for requirement verification, as well as reliability or endurance characterization.
The candidate will be expected to work effectively both independently and with cross-functional teams. The successful candidate must possess effective communication skills both written and oral. Some travel to off-site locations will be required, less than 10%, typically local or less than one week in duration if non-local.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of applicable experience or a Master of Electrical Engineering.
Experienced with laboratory scale experimentation and analysis work such as electronics or programmable logic controllers (PLCs) including specialized test equipment for unique applications
Experience with standard test and measurement hardware (power supplies,
meters, etc.), integration and test of HW and SW elements and electronics based
components and subassemblies (breadboard HW, test equipment, etc.)
Design of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and/or simulation of electronic components with software such as LTSpice, KiCad, or similar
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a highly motivated, self-starter with willingness to continuously learn new technology as well as teach others and participate in a team environment
Proficient in data analysis techniques and software such as python, MATLAB, JMP, Java, or similar
Familiarity with commercial test instrumentation including data acquisition modules, PCI/PXI instrumentation, real-time embedded controllers and communication devices, MATLAB, LabVIEW, diagnostics and test and documenting related activities (plans, procedures, configuration, and test results) is desired
Systems engineering experience writing and implementing a variety of items such as Design Verification Testing, Acceptance Test Procedures, Performance Verification Testing, Formal Qualification Testing, Interface Control Documents, Design Specifications, Software or Hardware Test Reports, and Software or Hardware Test Procedures
Requirements management application experience in DOORS or other SysML tools such as MagicDraw a plus
Prior experience operating computer systems and protecting information at a Secret or higher information security level
Familiarity with mission-critical design processes, validation, or endurance testing
Radiological controls or radiation safety training a plus
Experience in aerospace, defense or related industry (NASA, MDA, DOE, DOD) a plus
