Biogen Director, Strategy & Operations in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Director, Strategy & Operations will support the head of Neurodegeneration Units (NDU) in all day-to-day operations of the NDU. The Dir S&O is responsible for supporting functional governance & operations of the NDU team and driving functional strategic planning to support NDU operations. This individual will be responsible for working closely with NDU Leadership Team and execute LT meetings and Staff Meetings. The Director, Strategy & Operations will drive alignment across NDU, optimize interactions with key R&D stakeholders with respect to planning, decision making and communication, and optimize academic collaborations strategy and external stakeholder engagement. Enhance the efficiency of the NDU Leadership Team while being an active participant and augment strategic support of portfolio objectives and implementation of NDU priorities. In this role you will: * Contribute to portfolio advancement o Support Portfolio Advancement by ensuring that Program’s key activities requiring head of NDU inputs are efficiently and timely executed (e.g: Reviews and signoffs) o Partner closely with Strategy, Portfolio Operations & Communication to define and champion portfolio strategy assisting with coordination of strategic disease area / capability roadmaps * Provide direct support to NDU head o Support NDU head track and prioritize key activities (e,i: RDLT requests, Reviews & Sign-offs) o Support NDU Head for communications and presentations requests. E.i: Internal announcement, Board of Directors communications / presentations, ELT meetings, External facing webinars. o Act as a thought partner and advisor to the Senior Vice Presidents in identifying key priorities and strategic topics for discussion within their functions o Act as a facilitator, between NDU Head and other NDU team members, and other cross-functional individuals * Drive the development of Strategic plan/ initiative to support NDU operations o Facilitate NDU Strategic discussions; Assessments should take into considerations Resources / budget, Capabilities, External Collaborations, People skills, Business Development o Develop Academic Collaborations Strategy in collaboration with NDU LT. Implement workshops, symposia and other activities to maximize impact of academic collaborations. Manage and review progress of academic collaborations. Maintain strong engagement with collaboration partners and key scientific leaders * Support NDU functional governance and operations o Provide effective operations expertise and support for the coordination, tracking and monitoring of activities and deliverables for NDU functional team o Serve on NDU LT, leading development of LT meeting agenda and facilitate meetings, helping to drive alignment and decision making, and to ensure cross-functional integration of key initiatives, in conjunction with SVP, NDU. Develop strategic relationships in a cross functional / matrixed organization. May represent NDU at R&D meetings, and prepare presentation materials on a variety of topics and audiences o Manage departmental meeting forums within NDU and/or across other units to establish strategy, develop priorities, and manage resources within the NDU portfolio o Track internal and external resource allocation across the NDU pipeline, ensuring that it is aligned with the overall strategic and pipeline priorities o Ensure organizational effectiveness throughout the NDU, including creating appropriate governance and resource models with NDU LT, as needed, to navigate operational complexity necessary to facilitate function of NDU o Onboard new team members * The ideal candidate will have the acumen to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long term projects with the urgency of immediate demands of the NDU organization. S/he must also have the demonstrated ability to deal with highly confidential information and act as be a liaison and trusted business partner between the SVP, NDU, and other constituencies, both internal and external. * Highly organized (if they have some project management experience that would be great, but not required) * Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment with cross-functional teams. * Strong written/oral communication skills All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
