Biogen Director of Pharmacovigilance (PV) IT in Cambridge, Massachusetts
Oversee the Pharmacovigilance (PV) IT organization and business relationships Serve as the IT strategic partner and primary liaison for the PV organization. Manage all PV IT related projects across various business units. Work closely with the rest of the GSRS (Global Safety & Regulatory Sciences) IT organization. Accountable for keeping Biogen's PV IT regulatory and compliance standards in the regions/countries. Provide IT partnership and systems needs for the PV affiliates. Champion of communication between the Global IT organization areas internally and externally to the business. Key responsibilities: * Translating: * Understand PV business function’s strategy and effectively translate IT strategies into opportunities and requirements for technology solutions. * *Anticipating/Influencing: Proactively anticipate business needs to shape demand for PV IT services. * Strategic Planning: * Develop functional roadmaps that are aligned with function’s strategy and priorities for the PV organization. * *Developing/Managing Relationships: Engage and develop relationships with the right functional partners (e.g., GSRS and Regulatory Steering Committees) and subject matter experts. Manage and build trust in these relationships. * Integrating: Integrate roadmaps developed by other enabling PV functions with business partners to align IT capabilities with functional demand for IT services. * Advocating: * Advocate for partners with PV colleagues as needed/appropriate. In turn, drive awareness and adoption of PV IT initiatives and changes driven by all regulatory and compliance standards in the region/countries * *Driving Engagement: * Actively drive employee engagement in a caring and trusting environment – including providing assignments that set people up for success, delivering meaningful feedback, and recognizing accomplishments. * *Developing People: Engage and coach people to effectively prioritize work, develop themselves personally and professionally, and ensure they have fulfilling professional experiences. Ensure that employees and contractors in their organization are up-to-date on required training. * Team Building/Leading: * Confidently build and lead teams by cascading relevant information, aligning activities with PV IT strategy and priorities, fostering teamwork and collaboration, sharing and listening to ideas, and effectively positioning and driving teams to perform at a high level. * *Evaluating Talent: Create a positive work environment by understanding people’s strengths and growth areas – both in the hiring and ongoing work assignment process – and by matching the right talent to the right professional needs and opportunities. * Modeling: * Model and promote all six Biogen Elements. * Advanced degree in Information Technology, Scientific discipline, or MBA or combination of degree and related experience that exceeds the minimum qualifications. * Minimum of 7-10 years working in the biopharmaceutical R&D IT in a leadership role * Safety Database Experience - ARISg, Argus Safety, Veeva Safety Vault * Experience overseeing IT Development services and systems globally in a GxP environment. * Understanding of the Biopharma industry landscape of vendors and technology specifically as it relates to Pharmacovigilance. * Experience developing and leading high performing teams and budgets * Demonstrated ability to work and influence at multiple levels within mixed organization * Direct experience working with outsourced/managed service providers * Solid analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities. /“Diversity is key for the survival of our ecosystem.
