Microsoft Corporation Director, Global Marketing & Operations Community in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Marketing and Operations (M&O) teams around the world lead and inspire others to accelerate our digital transformation, deliver on our company priorities and achieve excellence in our business outcomes. The M&O teams builds a culture of new customer acquisition and consumption focused on customer success at scale to drive sustainable growth for Microsoft.

The M&O Leaders are the accelerator of transformation who drive clarity and have accountability for delivering business results across the 5 solution areas to enable customer & partners’ digital transformation success. The M&O Leader has the unique role of driving the culture of their Area / Sub with the LT and creating an environment where segments can be successful through identification of growth opportunities in the market, effective strategies, and leadership. The M&O Leader acts as the "Chief Operating Officer" (COO) on behalf of the Area Vice President or Country Manager and is the local Marketing and Business/Sales operations Leader. This role partners closely across the Leadership Team of the Area/Sub.

The M&O Leader has the primary local leadership accountability for driving the velocity of Microsoft’s transformation and for quality business performance results against strategic priorities and critical measures of success. They drive planning for short and long-term investments with a strategic focus on customer acquisition, consumption, compete, and customer success. They are astute in bringing local insights to develop and execute on growth strategy.

The M&O Leader provides effective marketing leadership for engaging customers on their journey to build loyalty, generate opportunities, and drive effective external and internal communications. They drive an agenda of innovation, thought leadership and execution to realize results.

The Global M&O Community Leader is responsible for activating the community to lead and execute on Microsoft’s strategic and business priorities, to advocate voice of the Field, and to lead community management and design.


Activate community to lead & execute on strategic & business priorities

  • Provide Clarity & Guidance - Create clarity & deliver guidance on strategic & business priorities

  • Enable Bi-Directional Engagement – Create impactful forums for bi-directional engagement between Communities and Corporate Groups

  • Evangelize Community’s Role - Clarify & evangelize Community’s role with key Corp and Field Groups

  • Drive Alignment - Promote Community’s role in landing and aligning to global strategy and business priorities locally

Advocate voice of the Field

  • Build Expertise - Build subject matter proficiency to connect corporate and influence how business outcomes are achieved

  • Advocate for Area Themes - Identify themes and advocate for Area business needs/realities

  • Build Shared Trust - Build shared trust to facilitate an open and interactive dialogue between field and corporate

  • Influence for “Glocal” Relevance - Influence Corporate Groups to ensure that key investments and programs land with relevance and impact locally

Lead community management & design

  • Create Clarity – Drive clarity on role expectations and business impact

Support and Communications:

  • Support M&O community in the landing of global programs, across segment, industry, solution area, and marketing.

  • Constantly look for opportunities to evolve the global M&O organization to adapt to ever-changing business conditions, and drive transformation.

  • Ensure integrated communications and leadership across M&O field communities and corporate M&O Community Role Owners: including M&O, CMO, BSO, BG, Compete, CPE, Communications

  • Work in a boundaryless way, ensuring a one-Microsoft approach across organizations to always do what is right for our customers, partners, and our M&O field.

  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of supporting vendors and be accountable for productivity and impact.

  • Complex Program Management: Lead others in scoping problems by identifying key issues, inputs, stakeholders, and outcomes. Work across sales, marketing, services, and other various organizations to solve complex issues and drive solution implementation.

  • Collaboration: Creates the conditions for successful collaboration at the organizational level to build strong partnerships and successfully collaborate with corporate and field leadership.

  • Influencing for Impact: Acts as a trusted resource and advisor to a wide network of colleagues and leaders with diverse personalities. Represents field priorities with clarity and persuasiveness to influence global programs.

  • Communications: Lead broad cross-community messaging that scales across audiences and delivers clarity and understanding.


  • 10+ years of demonstrated ability to lead high performing teams in broad business initiatives including marketing and operations.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal acumen to interact with executives and represent business issues with precision, clarity, and diplomacy.

  • Effective analytical and project management skills, to deliver on time and on budget while addressing the needs of competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a global team, driving successful outcomes with virtual teams.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required - Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Travel: Ability to travel (10-20% travel required-including international). No travel required during COVID remote work period.
