GCP Applied Technologies Director, Finance and Corporate Development in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Description

The Director, Finance and Corporate Development will be the global finance, planning and analytical partner for the SBM business as well as the corporate development leader for GCP. The Director, Finance will develop financial strategies and drive analytics to enable business decision making for the SBM business globally. S/he will drive long-term planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes and provide detailed monthly reports and analyses. The position will involve delivering important insights to senior leaders and require strong influence management skills. As head of Corporate Development, s/he will lead GCP’s inorganic/external growth strategy through M&A, investments and partnerships. S/he will identify acquisition and investment opportunities, perform strategic and quantitative analyses, conduct due diligence, determine appropriate valuation and structure, conduct negotiations, drive activities to closure, prepare for integration activities and prepare all presentation materials and reports. The position will report to the EVP, SBM and GCP Innovation and Corporate Development.

Key Responsibilities:

SBM Finance Strategic Partnership:

  • Partner with head of business to develop long term financial plans
  • Develop and present strategic insights about the business for senior leadership
  • Align functional goals and strategies to broader global initiatives
  • Decision support to on investment/project and functional decisions
  • Lead performance diagnostics, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
  • Become a trusted business partner to key regional and functional leaders

Financial Management:

  • Lead preparation of annual business plan and analysis, while working in collaboration with the SBM commercial and operating teams including the global and regional product line leaders
  • Enable decision making by providing timely, accurate information (such as product, channel and customer profitability or OPEX and manufacturing variances)
  • Develop discipline around budget and spend to optimize budget and investments: IRR and NPV focus
  • Understand business drivers and recommend measures to further improve results
  • Establish efficient processes for monthly and quarterly performance reporting for optimal result

Corporate Development:

  • Support development of corporate strategic objectives that will be used to drive broader external growth and inorganic business segment initiatives
  • Evaluate and execute domestic and international acquisition, divestiture, partnership, licensing and joint venture transactions including the strategic evaluation, financial analysis and modeling, due diligence, transaction strategy, deal negotiation and execution, closing and integration process
  • Conduct valuation and financial analyses for potential transactions and other internal projects
  • Prepare and present findings to deal team and senior leadership in a consistent, concise manner. Draft all materials including opportunity recommendations, diligence reports, Board of Director materials and external (investor, rating agency, etc.) materials
  • Coordinate and direct business and functional resources as well as external advisor relationships (investment banks, law firms, tax and accounting firms) required to evaluate and complete transactions

Work Experience:

  • At least 10-12 years of experience in in-house corporate development and FP&A, combined with background investment banking and M&A advisory. International and emerging market experience beneficial. Leadership role in a corporate setting reporting into C-Suite.
  • Leadership in managing all work streams of an M&A transaction process
  • Experience with SAP, BPC, Anaplan and/other business consolidation systems, as well as Salesforce CRM
  • Advanced competency with necessary software tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Science/chemistry/construction industry background is strongly preferred
  • Comfortable in working in a dynamic environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Foreign language fluency a plus
